Former Vice President Joe Biden is in disbelief after President Trump claimed that he’s taking hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Despite his reputation for gaffes, Biden actually has an underappreciated way with words which cuts through nonsense in a way voters can understand and which is quite unlike the style of stiffer politicians. He can easily be entertaining at the expense of his adversary, as Paul Ryan must privately recognize. It’s a skill I trust he will use effectively against the onslaught he’ll face.
I felt like my rather sophomoric joke was going to fall flat just for the reason you provided.
It is rather remarkable how familial dysfunction and mental illness/disorder can result in poor intellectual and emotional outcomes. Maybe there is some intellect somewhere in there, but it’s been poorly exercised at best. He always tries the cheap, easy approaches to problem solving (e.g. blame others, deflect, etcetera), but he never really comes up with a solution other than leaving damage in his wake.
I think the headline overstates the case by a bit… It wasn’t so much that the drug’s status was ‘unproven’ as it was debunked. That stuff is dangerous. My thought when he claimed that first responders were also taking it was… Well, I hope someone has the good sense to put them on a suicide watch then.
