Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) released a joint statement on Tuesday that outlines three questions that they demand the Trump administration answer as the President repeatedly vows to deliver a COVID-19 vaccine by Election Day.
The only thing that I don’t think is a problem is telling the states to be ready by Nov. 1st. You know some will lollygag, and others will wait til the last minute. So for states to start getting their ducks in row is good thing.
And quite frankly if it’s touted as being ready my 11/01 it won’t be available to people then. Hell if it’s available and ready to be shipped by 10/15 it still won’t save his ass since the vaccine will need to be taken in 2 doses.
This makes sense for them to do, essentially saying what a legitimate vaccine rollout would look like. Personally I think Trump is indulging in magical thinking here, daydreaming that if people simply believe a vaccine is coming, they’ll all swing his way and everything will be ju-ust fi-ine in Trumpland again. There. Will. Be. No. Vaccine. By. Election. Day. But if he can whip up the belief in the idea, that’s all he cares about. Mind you, it won’t work. But desperate people think all kinds of stupid thoughts.
This is good stuff. Stay on the offensive, set the terms of national discourse. Don’t leave it to their side. Keep hitting them hard with reality every single day.
Hard to imagine a general counsel’s office anywhere in corporate America would argue that an executive sneering “she’s not my type” about a woman who had accused the executive of rape was part of doing that executive’s job, but that’s what Bill Barr’s DOJ is arguing.
Perhaps Trump and the campaign can’t afford to pay his attorneys. Also, this happened decades before Trump became prez.
“The FDA has actually published transparent guidance to say what they will require for approval of a vaccine,” Azar told Fox News. “We will be transparent with the data. We’ll have a public advisory committee process for that. We will not compromise on the safety and efficacy of a vaccine, even as we move under President Trump’s leadership to get one as quickly as possible.”
Chiselin’ Trump: “We will also be announcing a secret cure for cancer—all forms of cancer—shortly after the election. However, if I’m not reelected, then we will be forced to throw the cancer cure away.”
The argument is that it’s part of a president’s business, in his job description, so to speak, to defend against a defamation suit in which a woman who says he raped her sues him for calling her a liar. So of course the taxpayers should pay for that, I mean, come on, be reasonable. That’s where we are.
That was then, but now, if he’s distracted by rape suits, it will cut into his time to do good things for us, the American people. Do you want fewer good things? Well do you?
I think Barr is trying to slow down the trial so that bad stuff comes out after the election. This also tells me that Barr believes Trump to be as guilty as sin.
Gotta say, if I were a DoJ lawyer, I’d resign over this. Lotta careerists in DoJ. Must be or there would have been lots of resignations by now. As it is, there’s been only a handful.
