Mass shootings are happening so frequently now that it’s impossible to follow the conservative strategy — thoughts and prayers but no time to talk about it.
With daily mass murder, Biden would be on tv every day opining about how we have to sacrifice our families to stay faithful to a Second Amendment no one understands anymore.

When are all these liberal assholes going to get it through their collective brains, that mass shootings are almost always committed by people who are mentally fucked up, and gun laws will not stop that. On the other hand, look at Chicago, with it’s stringent gun laws, and every day drug dealers, who know exactly what they’re doing, are killing anyone who gets in their way. And of course, this is mainly black on black killings, which BLM doesn’t say shit about.
Yeah, but it’s a lot harder to make the case that a bullpup weapon is a pistol, especially when it needs a foregrip to combat climb because the weight’s all behind the trigger-hand.
And if need be, that can be spelled out in law, too.
The continued rise of the gun violence in our country belie any Republican claims of American Exceptionalism. This rest of the world thinks we are nuts.
And it IS embarrassing to the American people no matter what excuses Republicans make otherwise. If you look at the polls about gun violence, it’s obvious that conservative manipulation of the 2nd Amendment is pushing the electorate to the edge. They don’t buy it.
People are sick of the continuing futility. The streets are not safe and way too many innocent people are being caught in the crossfire. Republicans won’t help pass even the most elementary common sense measures to stop the madness.
It’s like they want the chaos to continue, especially the damage that is being done to poor communities because of these machine guns. That attitude just doesn’t cut it any longer. It’s anti-social and deranged. It’s not normal to be so abusive and punitive toward other human beings.
Americans are staying away from attending organized church services for the same reason. Conservatives who now control these institutions obviously don’t care about anyone except those who can help them. Everyone else is expendable.
We saw it on 1/6/21 as the MAGA maned and killed Capitol police with flag poles bearing the American flag. The violence is disgusting. It has become the very definition of everything the GOP now stands for.

To fix the gun problem, examine how they dealt with the 2nd when full auto weapons came onto the scene. The problem is not assault rifles. Attacking assault rifles is low hanging fruit. It will help a little, but not nearly enough. The problem is semi auto rifles, especially when coupled with large magazines. Do people realize that magazine size is restricted on shotguns when hunting certain animals? These laws can me made without concern of the 2nd. They want you to have hang ups, and assault rifles are a hangup. Just make that specific type of weapon a ‘hobby only - collector only’ weapon. Make them take classes, get a license. Make it a special thing, for only the gun smart people. They want to play with their toys. Do it right, make them feel special, and they will let it happen.

I’m concerned about ATFE’s willingness to call the short Barreled rifle above a “pistol” and what’s commonly used as a butt stock a “wrist brace.” used to be you needed a special permit to own that kind of super concealable firepower. Ditto their wink at “bump stocks” until some malcontent had to go and wreck that bit of illusion one evening in Vegas. That you mention the Mini -14 is kind of interesting because some have claimed the Clinton’s “Assault Rifle” ban was supported by Ruger (maker of the Mini -14) and Colt (once the only people selling AR-15s) because of what they saw as unfair competition that came from cheap Chinese semi auto AK-47’s and SKS carbines…but I digress. It would appear that the ATFE is now in the pocket of the gun manufactures…right down to the E part of their acronym which stands for explosives-you can go to a big box store and buy explosives grade ammonium nitrate or go on line and buy it in bulk-in either case with a sensitizer included to make a binary “explosive target.” Governments in Europe have been too smart to let that happen for a long time because of their experiences with groups like the IRA. That stuff was likely the source nitrate used by the would be Y2K bomber, because AN is the basic building block to make a number of much more powerful explosives.

Biden got some good PR out of this event even though the actual measures he proposed were modest. He’s pointing the finger at Congress, which is entirely appropriate.
The adage that the US is the ‘greatest country in the world’ doesn’t withstand the test of scrutiny when you’d literally be safer in almost every other westernized Democracy due to the scourge of gun violence.
