You know the joke about Wells Fargo? They weren’t alone in their crimes. They had all kinds of help.
Prudential for one.
In 2016, three regulators at Prudential who were employed specifically to look for unusual activity discovered an enormous number of policies being written through Wells Fargo. (Silly, you thought they were just opening accounts, haha). So the in-house regulators brought the weird spike to the attention of their manager, as they were required to do. They were told to drop it, and stand down. That didn’t sit well with them so they went over their manager’s head. At that point the three of them were summarily dismissed, and ordered to keep their mouths shut or lose their severance. They chose to sue Prudential instead and Prudential successfully got a corrupt judge to slap a gag order on the case. It’s still winding its way through the courts.
Have never heard of this? Well, then the scumbags who run Prudential got their money’s worth.

Of course, Omarova’s Soviet background provided great chum for Republicans, but, the New York Times reported, it was lobbyists for the banks who boosted concerns that Omarova’s Soviet upbringing somehow rendered her ineligible.
