Didn’t Baldwin get the memo from Collins? Because Democrats hurt Republican fee-fees by agreeing to pass unrelated legislation they didn’t like, they will vote against the legislation they do like.
Schedule the vote for October, so Republicans get to shoot themselves in the foot again like they did with the sick vet healthcare bill.

This is Susie saying very loudly what’s supposed to be the quiet part, which is that in the US Senate it’s basically agreed that a Democratic majority is not a legitimate majority. The awful thing is that has been a Democratic assumption for a long time too. The official name of the assumption is “the filibuster.” Reconciliation bills, requiring a simple majority, are the exception that proves the rule.

Maybe a bit sweeping. Public opinion regarding the filibuster isn’t anywhere near as solid as abortion rights, for example. And I don’t think it’s entirely fair to say the Democrats assume that a Democratic majority is not a legitimate majority.

As your own non-lawyer I sympathize but would have to recommend against it. But yeah, he’s a punk. He gave the plaintiffs’ lawyer the finger a day or two ago.
