The more destruction of the USPS, the more work, by default, will get pushed to his old company, which he’s in all likelihood sitting on a ton of shares in.

I assume Greenberg has given up Gaetz. Now the question, who does Gaetz give up and for what crimes?

Such is the life in the GQP crime family.

Greed and hubris.

Bingo.

No plea deal would have been offered if Greenberg hadn’t made a proffer—which the feds would have verified six ways from Sunday before agreeing to the deal.

Depends on how many years he’s facing because of Greenberg’s aria.

I don’t find that a very satisfying explanation. There are a lot easier, and–importantly–more direct ways to do that. And he’s now being carefully watched for corruption, so it’s harder.

Therefore, I think this explanation, while possible and even overlapping with other explanations, isn’t the main one. That main motive is what I’m looking for.

So, what is he in it for? Just to destroy the USPS?

It’s not like it’s in the Constitution or anything…

Payments to the company increased beginning soon after he took charge.

Things like dismantling sorting machines is prime stuff that forces the USPS to rely on contractors like his old company.

Sometimes the grift in front of your face is exactly what it is, and there is no super-secret thing behind it. He was banking on trump being re-elected, and then he’d never face consequences.

You know, I think you maybe got it. He’s just doing it because he’s a dick.

It’s weird that Greenberg’s attorney is so eager to make public statements hinting at Gaetz’ legal jeopardy. It’s not obvious to me that doing this serves the interests of his client.

It makes me suspect that Greenberg doesn’t actually have all that much to offer the feds. If he did, his attorney wouldn’t need to put so much energy into hyping him. I speculate that he’s trying to put political pressure on the prosecutors to cut his client a favorable deal, and that he maybe doesn’t really have the goods on Gaetz.

My guess is that he was promised a choice piece of the USPS once it was officially dismembered and privatized (maybe even a chunk of the pre-paid retirement monies that the Repubs insisted be paid.) He just needs to finish the job of privatization.

That’s a pretty thin reed.

Can’t recall the statutes, but someone on Twitter was saying that DeJoy is in fact likely vulnerable to felony charges

It is very hard to prove control fraud. So he made some administrative changes that had some collateral effects. Unlikely he is ever indicted.

DeJoy reminds me of this guy I used to see at weddings & family picnics. My father used to call him ā€œthat fuckin’ zha-droolā€ā€¦Which is Italian for dickhead, I think :sunglasses:
