As They Rush Through Another SCOTUS Nom, GOPers Play Up ‘Court Packing’ Hysteria | Talking Points Memo

As they rushed to pack their own nominee onto the Supreme Court with just days to go before Election Day, Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday just couldn’t stop talking about some Democrats’ stated openness to adding more justices to the court.

I don’t give a damn what it sounds like. They’ve cheated for damn near two decades stuffing the judiciary. Pack, Expand, Reform, whatever. DO IT!

They did some focus groups with loaded questions to scare the shit out of Americans who had no idea what “court packing” meant.

At the very least, I’m glad Biden and Harris aren’t completely ruling out expanding the SC. That means they are actively considering it. If Republicans are squawking they must be worried.

Sorry, dearie, only Trump gets to shoot people and get away with it.

Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi, as they used to say.

Why won’t Donald Trump confirm a peaceful transition of power? Why is Donald Trump demanding that DOJ arrest The Democratic nominee for President, Joe Biden and his former rival Hillary Clinton? Why won’t Donald Trump release his taxes?

Okay, here’s where I am confused. If it was self defense, why did you have to go to your car to get a gun? Why didn’t you go to your car to get … the hell out Dodge.

Logic is optional in Trumplandia.

Why are Republicans engaged in court packing as we speak?

If Justice Handmaid’s Tale gets confirmed, a majority of the justices will have been appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote. It will literally be an anti-democratic institution.

But on Monday, Grassley made no mention of those remarks, saying instead that “Republicans are following the Constitution and the precedent.

This is the only answer Democrats need to provide when asked about “court-packing”. They will follow the same Constitution and precedent as Republicans have done.

Yesterday Fox News was running a story about how Biden said something against adding SC justices in 1983. I took utter delight pointing out to people in the comments section that in 1983 Trump was a Democrat and pals with Hillary Clinton.

Bless their ratfkin’ hearts. ‘Court packing’ and ‘attacking her religion!’ are the two memes they’ve landed on. As well as sanctimonious OUTRAGE DAMMIT they are trying to deflect from Donnie’s COVID and taxes. Just stay calm. And MEDIA? STOP taking the bait.

Why do Republicans continue to support a President who brazenly violates the Hatch Act?

“Lately the left is threatening to pack the Supreme Court in retaliation for this confirmation process,” the committee’s former chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), said during his opening remarks, referring to the notion of expanding the court as a “blatantly partisan policy grab.”

It was St. John McCain when it looked like Hillary had the last election in the bag that said there was nothing in the Constitution that required nine justices and that the Senate may just keep the SCOTUS at eight. I know they are all immune to shame but man do they reach new lows daily.
