They absolutely, positively, without delay, need to address the presence of ICEholes at polling places during midterm and general elections. They cannot be permitted to interfere with voters casting their ballots for any elected position. No way, no how.

Start now. Put them on notice they are not welcome under any circumstances.

We passed HB 9 in the NM House last night that prevents state and local law enforcement and other agencies from working with ICE. On to the state Senate.

I am not sure passing a law that prohibits local police from working with ICE is a good thing. The way you change ICE behavior is to force ICE to obey they law anyway you can. Preventing local police from working with ICE in connection with apprehending real criminals is counter productive.

Obama put millions out of the country without sending goon squads to collect strangers in the street. How did he do that?

“Sanctuary Cities” is sort of like “Defund the Police.” It is a phrase that triggers conservatives who just want to talk in slogans.

In sanctuary states, local and state police apprehend violent and serious noncitizen criminals then put them into the justice system as they do anyone else. After that, immigration and customs enforcement picks up the ball; that’s their remit. States can’t afford to do federal agency work on top of underfunded civil law enforcement work. ICE will not be forced to obey US laws by this administration which does not adhere to nor support US law. They will force civil law enforcement to behave similarly and swell their ranks by action, if not payroll. I believe the intent is still to take over the US and remake it according to their fascist mission. DHS is already ignoring and under-utilizing FEMA and other agencies within its purview in order to focus on their purge.

I am not saying local police needs to be doing the work of ICE but having local police on the scene might discourage some of the worst ICE behavior. Anyway what is going on is a battle for the hearts and minds of people who get their information from the internet. I read a piece today that said the real problem is “sanctuary cities” A lot of people I know don’t know what a sanctuary city is or how it operates. We are fighting for hearts and minds after all. .
