Gov Wolff also said churches can stay open.

Guns and God forever.

Ah, more doomer prep fantasy stuff…

Armed with my trusty AR-15, a crate of Slim-Jims and a 50 lb sack of rice, I will persevere and reach the true freedom that awaits on the other side…

And the gunshop owners will surely apply for small business money because of lost revenue.

Gun stores aren’t essential, but one runs into serious Constitutional issues closing them. Much easier to let them stay open and spare oneself the legal and political nightmares.

Also “Payday Lenders” are exempt. It’s the GOP thing to do.

I’ll never look at America and a whole lot of my fellow citizens in the same way again when this is over.

Churches, like guns, are afforded special Constitutional protection.

It would be nice if the various priests, ministers, rabbis, and other leaders showed some sense and didn’t hold masses where thousands of people might attend.

So, obviously, exactly the opposite is already happening.

I should add that Gov. Ducey included pay-day loan shark stores as essential along with our lovely golf resorts.
Dang, you beat me at the loanshark angle as well.
Well done sir.

Doesn’t it say somewhere that you cannot serve both God and armaments? If it doesn’t, it should.

I wish half the people I know were protected as well as guns and gun-owners are.

Do you mean legally suspended?

Lincoln suspended habeas corpus, but that’s still been considered possibly legally unsound.

FDR certainly suspended the rights of many Japanese-Americans.

I cannot think of any situations where rights have been legally suspended. (Well, in the post-Dred Scott era.) After all, rights aren’t worth very much if they can be suspended any time the government declares that the situation is difficult.

There is a Greek Orthodox church almost within direct line of sight from my house. About 9 AM this morning it’s bells rang out. I assume calling the faithful to a gathering.
They should do their gatherings on line.

Of COURSE guns shops are essential! How else ya gonna get the firearms and ammo to protect your toilet paper??

Well, this is true, but my cynicism has grown to the point where, regarding the types of people who flock to congregations of thousands of sheep, i really don’t care. Thinning the herd, as they say.

You mean according to the language of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

Yeah, i meant legally suspended. Declarations of Emergency, i thought, suspended everyone’s rights due to unforeseen circumstances. I could be wrong, but for that matter, blue laws on Sundays are a violation of my constitutional rights.

You beat me to it! (good work!)

In the powers granted to Governors and the President to supersede normal rules during times of an emergency.

So, gun shops and ABC stores are two of the only things remaining open during quarantine - what could possibly go wrong…

But, what does it have to do with “a well regulated Militia?” Asking for a friend…
