AP: George Allen Wins Republican Nod In VA-SEN | Talking Points Memo

Former U.S. Senator and governor George Allen (R) will get the chance to avenge his 2006 loss in the Virgina Senate race. Republicans in Virgina overwhelmingly chose Allen to be their Senate nominee Tuesday night, according to the AP, meaning he’ll run again for the seat he lost to Sen. Jim Webb (D) six years ago. Allen faced a tea party opponent who was unable to make much of an impact in the race, which now pits him against former DNC chair and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine in the general election.
