I try to avoid any political discussions with a sister who is getting increasingly reactionary, but a cousin recently told me my sister blithely said “Oh well, I don’t like Trump, but he’s done a lot of good things.” I don’t know how I can even stand to be in her presence now, because no matter how much she loves tax cuts and deregulation, Trump is a dangerous racist, and anyone willing to ignore that has a stain on their soul.

So I take that shit as another way of saying “Yeah I’m a racist too.”

I love that AOC keeps characterizing Trump’s vision of America as dark and threatened.

I keep telling folks: she’s good. AOC is good at this. Dems can leverage her framing and messaging to defeat Trump and sell middle America on Dem policies.
Dem leadership should make more efforts to co-opt and groom her rather than to fight her. The reason they’re not doing that is because of two issues: immigration and aggressive oversight. AOC is right on those two issues. Leadership is wrong but they’re too dug into their positions at present. Aligning with AOC’s messaging and using it to sell center left policies as well as oversight will help win over middle of the road voters and ensure a max turnout among Dem leaning demos.
Someone has to tell Pelosi to get it together and do the work the party needs to beat Trump.

Yes, they are racists, and are being played by Trump for his gain. But the left has only countered his attacks with anger and indignation, which is a start, but not an end. To not give a damn about 40+% of voters, and to see them as hopeless doesn’t help. Why not say something like, “Now he’s starting a food fight to distract from the fact that many still don’t have enough food to eat.”

Trump is Dog’s means to an end to the slaughter of innocents, etc, etc… The pictures of innocents suffering in cages is uncomfortable for them, but that inhumane torture is necessary to finally achieve this other agenda of theirs.

The only way to win this game is not to play. State your position, and then refuse to engage. This would deflate him. Fighting with him energizes him.

Anyone who thinks that “the squad” are a bunch of amatuers who are stumbling along and ill prepared to deal with the gargantuan monster occupying our White House needs to take a look at their record of achievement. Each has been tilting at windmills for quite some time now and are good at it. (The road from Somalia to the House of Representatives is not a cakewalk my friends) THey are experienced, well prepared and articulate. Donald had better lay off or he will be taking on a fight he just can’t win.
