Gotta wonder what the crossover is between anti-abortion types and those who refuse to get vaccinated or even mask up and socially distance. I bet it’s well over 70%. Anyone who thinks that a 12 week old fetus has a “soul” is not playing with a full deck. So let the Great Culling of 2021 go on (it’s going to anyway)! They’re actually “aborting” themselves, which in my book is not such a bad thing considering the alternative, like just enough GOP voters to put it back in power. Ew!

Dade Co, FL vaccination rate may be lower than it appears.
the most common thinking is that it’s a combination of lots of snowbirds (seniors who live up north and only spend the winter in Miami-Dade) who got vaccinated in M-D back in January/February before flying back up north for the rest of the year) and “Medical Tourism”…i.e., folks from other countries flying into M-D, getting vaccinated and then flying back to their home country.
If this is accurate, it suggests that Miami-Dade County has actually only fully vaccinated as little as perhaps 58% of its actual total population, a full 10 percentage points less than the official 68% rate…or as much as a whopping 270,000 fewer residents than reported.
And if that’s correct, given that Miami-Dade has around 12.6% of Florida’s total population, that 10-point difference could mean Florida’s statewide fully-vaxxed rate is as much as 1.3 points lower than the official numbers indicate.
I want to be clear: I am not saying that this is being done deliberately. There’s a lot f big red flags surrounding how Florida’s health department has been gathering and reporting COVID cases, hospitalizations and deaths lately…but this particular vaccination data issue could be an honest, unintentional outlier.

My mother-in-law, a Fox News viewer, has just recently decided not to get a flu shot this year. She’s over 90. I wonder if elderly flu shots will also decrease this fall amid the anti-vax hysteria on the right. Sad to witness, but there is just no getting through to some…

TBH I haven’t gotten a flu shot in decades. I literally haven’t gotten the flu, at least in any but the very mildest form, that long. I get a bad cold or two nearly every winter, but no fever, so I assume it’s a cold and not the flu. I figure if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I also don’t abuse antibiotics and take them only when I have a serious bacterial infection, usually teeth-related in my case. But I got the covid vaccines as soon as I was eligible and will get the booster as soon as I’m eligible too.

Two things can be right even if only seemingly connected. But, while I have no problem with someone being of average of even below average intelligence, because that’s how you were born, I go bonkers when I see people willfully refuse to use whatever natural intelligence they have, because Jeebus/Hashem/Allah, “values”, “tradition”, “conservative”, etc.
You’re just a moron at that point. I.e. a GOP voter. There’s very little difference these days.
