Ugh. This is a frivilous suit on its face. The Federal system should not be allowing that bozo judge to hear these cases and, if he continues to hear them, he and the filers should face federal sanctions.

No surprises here, right wing politics abuses the justice system to win a culture war battle that satisfies their base. In the process, many people are hurt who can’t get the medical care they need…once again, conservatives show they don’t really care about women, just about winning a culture war that would subjugate them.
This should be thrown out, there’s no support for it and it is contrary to precedent in these types of cases. It’s really worrisome that cases that have no merit are being heard at all, and some of them get through the system and undo decades of understanding of what the laws mean. This is how our legal system comes apart, when judges and courts suborn our laws to their political beliefs. And, hoping a Supreme Court that’s doing the same thing will be the bulwark against these abuses feels like a fool’s errand.
If you feel any uncertainty about voting for Biden and Democrats over the next decade, look at things like this, because Republicans in power mean more of this. Democrats aren’t perfect (and most liberal complaints come down to them not being liberal enough), but they are far, far better than this alternative (which will destroy all of those liberal wishes).

Planned Parenthood was actively fighting its expulsion in court and had secured a federal court injunction preserving the status quo. In other words, Texas, under federal court order, could not boot Planned Parenthood from Medicaid while the case played out.
Based on Abbott’s continued actions on its international border with Mexico, Texas is no longer subject to Federal laws or constitutional provisions it disagrees with.

Also, every time I see a fascist haircut I’m reminded of the qualities of vanity in men. Same with shaved-head people. They put more work into that every day than any reasonable man should.
Seems to be a whole hairstyle evolution thing going on in the GOP. Trey Gowdy went Euro immediately after he started getting real airtime.
Of course, half the males representing us in Congress got there on the strength of their haircut. This is the way of the human-monkey allegory.

The right-wing looks forward to the day when it can get rid of these ridiculous dog-and-pony “legal” masquerades and just straight up start chucking people in prison or lining them up against a wall and shooting them. They could hardly be more openly contemptuous of the notion that the law amounts to anything more than a pretext for getting their way. Or a club to pummel their enemies with.

Abbott hasn’t violated the injunction, which has proven to be too narrow to handle the broader issue. I’m expecting an amended complaint and application for temporary injunction any day now.

I’ve always thought of Austin like that. But then again, given how the right has embraced political violence, it’s like that an hour outside of any metropolitan center anywhere in the U.S. — the further out you drive, the more virulent it becomes.
I’m going to start marketing magnetic right-wing nut-job bumper stickers you can apply off and/or peel off in one fell swoop. It will be complimented by a faux gun rock sticker you can apply to your rear windshield.

Texas is like an inverse California. Trying to drag the whole nation to the far right, and maybe more successful at that. What is it going to take to demolish the GQP nationally by getting it out of their grip? We’re always told it’s just a few more election cycles away because of this or that, but it’s a long wait. And the Texas GQP appears to have no desire to stop rigging the game in their own favor every chance they get.
