An Odd Trio Of Conservative Voices Are Mad About Israel’s Ban On Tlaib, Omar | Talking Points Memo

That’s SO unfair to women. We need the other version of this, stat.

Two-faced jerks’ criticisms would carry more weight if it reached 45’s orange ears. No breath holding until that happens.

No, Bibi sides with fascist. There is a difference.

Not really. The only codels they’re interested in are ones that result in praise being heaped on Israel and money being sent its way, these days usually in the form of overseas investments (preferably ones in companies linked to Bibi & Co). AIPAC <> Israel. It’s just another commercial lobby.

Nations don’t have legal standing. Countries do. And countries have internationally recognized rights and powers, including that of being able to determine who is and isn’t allowed in. I don’t think this is a matter of legitimate LEGAL debate. Moral debate, on the other, fair game. But you can’t just reject established international law because you disagree with it. Doesn’t work that way.

Edit to Eew and gross.

Countries and their governments do have rights – and obligations – via treaties, for example, including those that set up, and those set up by, the United Nations.

But you’re correct that individuals sometimes play word-games when they want to deprive other individuals of their rights.

bad optics are the fuel that drives the trump train.

Do you know if ALEC is still standing? And this sounds like the work of some kind of religious ALEC.

And let’s not forget that Jews are not the only Semites. The term includes all “children of Abraham” and thus includes the Arabs and others. If you don’t want to go the religious route, then Semites are all of those people who spoke a Semitic language in the ancient Middle East which include the above plus the ancient Assyrians and some Mesopotamians.

I mean, at least Dem leaders are still trying to downplay the tensions around the Israel issue and there’re lots of Dems who don’t wanna speak out against the Israeli gov’t. But if Bibi continues to tie himself with ttump, Dems will be forced to cut the tie with him and can feel more free to oppose him without fearing of being accused of anti-semitism.

A majority of the votes in the last election (excluding those for the Arab parties) went to Bibi or the right-wing religious/nationalist parties that are even worse, so it’s a distinction without a difference.

Slim majority of voting Israelis <> Israelis or Israel. Of course, Israel has no right to exist, being a racist country on 100% stolen land, so what does it matter. All Israelis are Zionists therefore racists…

Btw why do you exclude Arab votes? They’re suddenly not people?

Because they won’t be included in any government, even a left-wing one. Since they get only around 10% of the vote, they’re mostly irrelevant to who gets power in the government.

If this is your view then why are you going to such lengths to proclaim Bibi as the sole driver of this policy as if a lot of people don’t agree with him?

I was obviously being sarcastic as there’s a lot of people who hold this ridiculous (and usually anti-Semitic in origin) view. I can’t stand Bibi. He’s a weak, vain and foolish leader who’s been a disaster for both peoples. But that doesn’t mean that most Israelis like or agree with him. It’s more Israel’s center and left’s weakness than his appeal that keeps getting him reelected. Sound familiar?

And an Arab vote is still a vote, and Arab Israelis are still Israelis, a majority of whom don’t like him. Eventually, that will matter again, perhaps as early as next month. Inshallah.

What is it about American free speech rights that supposedly entitles these two to a right to force Israel to admit them unconditionally? Israel is not required to facilitate participation in a photo op attacking Israel.

There is a argument that it is unwise to bite the hand that feeds you but barring critics and opponents is standard nation state behavior. It is often unwise and heavy handed which is why I oppose such actions in almost all cases but it is a right head by a nation state.

Edited and expanded to correct numerous typos and to expand my argument.

That is such a dodge, Antisemitism historically refers to prejudice against Jews of whatever race.

Fuck Israel.
