Alito Pens Decision That 'Eviscerates' The Voting Rights Act

I would argue that gutting the Voting Rights Act is a net positive for Democrats. Replacing it will give them a focus. Maybe they can fashion a bill that will protect the voting rights of all Americans. After all this is 2026 not 1960.

You don’t need to be clever when you’re a supermajority. It doesn’t matter what garbage they spew–no one can overturn even their most ill-conceived rulings.

It seems to me that “partisan” maps would be a thing to avoid altogether. You’re using the map boundaries to pick who represents the district, as opposed to the voters. Go figure.

So if a district boundary bisects a cohesive neighborhood, to achieve a partisan, political purpose, how does that serve that once unified and now divided neighborhood?

Badly, most likely.

Democracy, wasn’t it great?

White supremacy, misogyny, blatant corruption, wealth concentration, doesn’t matter.

I am old enough to remember when legislating from the bench was a terrible thing for Republicans to behold.

He is SUCH a nasty, white nationalist who thinks he’s ENTITLED to screw everyone over. God…I truly loathe these freaks. How did they even come to BE???

That’s because they were afraid Democrats would do it first.

Alito can retire now and open up space for a much younger Alito 2.0 – sigh

You are 100% correct, but events you describe here go unnoticed except for people like you and then become ephemera.

Words fail me. Bigoted? Benighted? Obtuse?
Sickening that such persons can infiltrate the SCOTUS.

Impeaching a couple of the worst would maybe send a message that we the people are fed up and we are not going to put up with their corruption.

First we have to have Democrats in the WH, Senate and House so that some young progressives (or at least some people who have actually read the Constitution) are seated on the Court.

Dems were super nervous here in Nj last year. So many wet towels. I was sure we’d win and easily. And did big. 14 points! Every election everywhere this past year has been wildly toward Dems. If we were gonna get 40 seats maybe we only get a 30 seat majority. But win we shall. It’s counter-shift - even Orban, despite his hand in the scale, lost big.

IMHO the corrupt #SCOTUS6 revealed themselves to not believe in the foundational belief of our country, that all (people) are created equal, which seems impeachment worthy.

They’re basically Confederate sleeper agents who have been activated, they don’t belong on the court.
