An Alaska judge barred prosecutors from using over 100 hours of electronic surveillance in the trial of Schaeffer Cox of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia, who allegedly stockpiled weapons as part of a plot to kill state officials.Superior Court Judge David Stewart ruled Monday that the audio and video recordings were inadmissible because they were made without a search warrant, in violation of the state’s constitution. The recordings were made by the FBI during a six-month investigation into Cox and his militia, with the help of two confidential informants.
