Hmm this seems quite forward thinking on Airbnb’s part. To search their accounts for people named as members of hate groups seems like a responsible thing to do.

Airbnb needs to import the Parler data to create a no bed no breakfast list.

Business opportunity! Who’s up for starting Alt-BnB with me?

I could probably get a hold of some slightly used trailers, I’m sure the crime scene clean-up guys did an excellent job of making them presentable again.

Only DC? Too bad. Airbnb is not good for any community. It takes away permanent housing from the market place, which causes many obvious problems for cities. In Canada alone about 300,000 are off the market. I’d imagine in the States it would be about 10 times that amount.

Rant finished.

Perhaps board these reenactors on pirate ships anchored in the Potomac.

Actually, we have a reservation with Air BNB this upcoming weekend in DC. Saw this press release, called host who had no idea. Then had an online chat with Air BNB customer support who also had no idea. As far as they know, I am free to cancel but do not have to. No one told them. Nor have I gotten an email from Air BNB. ???

Because of COVID few people supporting Biden/Harris would have attended the inauguration anyway. But otherwise, but for COVID and now Fascists, I likely would have attended Biden’s inauguration as I did Obama’s. That is inaugurations should be a time for celebration but thanks to Trump and Republicans are now a time for fear and concern.

The focus is really (justifiably) on getting across the goal-line … of noon on January 20th .

will take a huge leap of faith and assume that multiple teams are working round the clock to take over & have things ramp up to full speed immediately following the swearing-in!

Shall we call it “3 hots and a cot”?

I applaud what they’re doing. I was an Airbnb host in a previous secret location and am working on being one again in another secret location, but glad it’s not in DC.

That’s not entirely true, one can host people in a separate section of their home, in a separate building on their property. It may be a problem in larger cities but where I’ve done it don’t think the population was affected. I had a very positive experience doing it. It’s a great way if you’re an active host to help people know the place they’re visiting.
I’ve traveled in the country and out using Airbnb. A way to connect with people in another culture.

Does anyone else expect Trump to brag (on OAN or wherever) that his record inauguration crowd was bigger than Biden’s, as if that’s a valid comparison?

Except that there are/were people on there who weren’t participants, more like observers. These would be like people who followed Trump on Twitter just so they could make snarky comments.

Let us know if that changes. Maybe they’re just sending out notices as we speak.

Ok. I’d like to suggest you find the numbers in America. I believe you will find that overall there is a net negative value in any community. That is the case in Canada.

The community I was in was a winter hot spot without many other options for over nighters. Because of the tourism in that area it was the major income producer for the town/county.
