Executive action to avoid the Bernie Bros. who will say that he is doing nothing and try to mess up the 2022 general election.

Manchin maintains that a bill including climate provisions isn’t off the table for him, but insists that July inflation levels must drop first.

We saw this schtick before. Hopefully we can elect two new filibuster reform Senators, then Manchin can be the one to “drop first”.

A welcome move, for sure…for all of us: including clueless Republican voters who will be benefited by all of this

To get to the crux of Manchin’s motivations, “follow the money.”

I honestly don’t give a fuck what his motivations are for anything anymore.

He needs to be made irrelevant.

An underemphasized reality is that the Defense Department and the Military are interested in climate, for a host of obvious reasons.

Obvious.

From the Article:

["Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) tweeted out a list of suggestions, urging the administration to get into ‘executive beast mode.’ "]

The House should really think about putting climate change stuff in the defense bill…sure, relate it to defense stuff (which is easy), the military is worried about how the climate is going to affect their operations and ability to get anything. Let Republicans go crazy over it, dare them to boycott it when the items are relevant. If Manchin wants to trash the military funding, let him go ahead and do it and see how far it gets him in WV.

It’s super frustrating to give someone everything they ask for, do it their way, and then have then turn around and refuse the deal. Democrats should keep Manchin close for appointments, but as soon as they have enough Senators that they don’t need his vote for anything they should ignore everything he has to say. He’s earned that in the past two years with his disingenuous negotiations.

They’ll say it anyway.

Like the rent moratorium EO, Biden’s action is again on record.

In a few weeks, so will be the courts

Not enough, but better then we are going to get out of Manchin right now.

Biden can get rather Salty with his language;
perhaps he needs to invite Manchin to the White House and give him a thorough old-fashioned LBJ-style Cussing Out: Look here you punk-ass-M-F (sorta like Eric Herschmann told idiot Michael Flynn during the W.H. meeting).

Only works when you have LBJ-style margins in congress.

Red States suffer from climate change, yet their voters consistently vote for politicians who are against dealing with it.
