I just wrote again to Jeff Merkley saying what a relief it was to see Wyden is now a No vote. And that in these chaotic times a No vote accomplishes one thing for sure. It is heartening to all of us who understand what is happening and are finding our own ways to say “No” to all of this and finding ways to alert others to what is happening.

If this proves to be the case—and it sure looks that way—then Schumer has managed to both capitulate and treat the base like fools in the process. Dem establishment can go f itself. Get rid of them all. The government and by extension the country is in the gravest danger of our lifetimes, and Chuck is playing PR games. I’ll give money to AOC and anybody like her who’s actually fighting and making the case day after day in simple and effective ways. (Not another podium announcement with a fucking chart or placard.) Done with these sad sacks who as Josh often notes are always passive or reactive. As he said, if Dems decided to fold just say it. They’ve made it even worse by issuing a b.s. declaration designed to mislead the base. Schumer should step down as minority leader.

I’m still dumbfounded at what an insulting self-own the D’s are pulling here. But why should I be? This stunt is the worst possible outcome and a slap in the face to all of us. Damn, I’ve defended this party so much and tried to urge unhappy lefties to stay inside the tent and try to make a difference—and I still hew to that, because I don’t see any third-party alternative that could credibly emerge quickly and be politically viable. But there needs to be a purge of party leadership. The Pelosi/Schumer crowd and their acolytes need to step down and move on.

The 30-day CR would almost certainly fail if the Republican-controlled Senate were to vote on it. And on the off chance it did succeed, it would not survive a vote on the House floor.
So what’s the point of it then, performance art? So they get to propose the 30 day CR then when it gets rejected, what? They help invoke cloture and the fascists and traitors and cowards shove thru the Johnson thing, but without much Democratic support, maybe Fetterman and Schumer, for procedural reasons?

Ms. Brutus and I voted for this asshole over Conor Lamb. We thought Conor would be too conservative for our tastes, but we now regret our decision and will not vote for this fucker again. I believe the stroke changed his brain and outlook on life. I didn’t vote for this.

I’m not a political strategist but my feeling is the best thing the Democrats can do is to filibuster the CR. That will force the republicans to nuke the filibuster and from there on out everything is on them. EVERYTHING.
As things are now basically we have republicans telling Democrats that if you don’t do what we want we’re gonna nuke the filibuster, so functionally the filibuster is meaningless.
Make them do it.
