Rather than go with his reported favorites for the job, the President has chosen Kirstjen Nielsen’s former chief of staff to fill in as the acting secretary of the Department Homeland Security.
We can thank Democrats and the impeachment proceedings for Trump to bow to the wishes of Republican Senators by not nominating Cuccinelli. A pesky thing like it being unlawful would not have stopped him. And while Wolf is probably no bargain, Cuccinelli would have been an absolute nightmare. He’s the guy that perverted Emma Lazarus’s beautiful poem on the Statue of Liberty, and has no problem deporting critically ill children to almost certain death in their countries of origin.
In a way, Impeachment proceedings have already helped the good guys “win” because, from Trump, we were never going to get anyone sane.
"A former lobbyist, Wolf helped Nielsen implement the administration’s family separation policy and was one of the first officials to sketch out plans for the systematic separations, "
So, that makes him not a hardliner? I guess that writing a policy that ended up putting children in cages is “soft” as far as Republicans go.
With Wolf being a revolving door-ist maybe he wouldn’t be as cruel or insane. After all, he wouldn’t want to put a hitch in his get-along a screw up his future gravy train.
Then again, if this turns out to be the case, he won’t be there long either.
1 / Another “acting” Trump flunky in The Worst Reality TV Show Ever.
2 / How can this gig possibly be good for anybody’s CV?
3 / He is soon to be a performer on “Dancing with the Unindicted Co-conspirators.” Coming soon on Trump TV.
I’m confused, the headline says making Nielson deputy acting… then the article goes on to talk about everyone but her.
Anyway, if she really does end up back in the fold, this woman is an idiot on steroids.
Edit. @occamscoin I see it’s as simple as not using 's. Ridiculous TPM.
“The envelope please.” (hesitates while waiting for the envelope, then opens the envelope) “For the cruelest, most corrupt, most subservient, and shittiest performance as an Acting Secretary, the winner is…”
You know instead of adopting a my way or the highway approach to government, Trump might try reaching across the aisle, compromising and appointing qualified people.
So, the Senators opposed Cuccinelli for funding primary opponents and not because his policy ideas came straight from Satan and were intended to hurt the maximum number of brown people possible? How high minded.
