Former Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) and incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) are set to face off in the general elections following Tuesday’s nonpartisan primary. The other two candidates in Alaska’s crowded 16-person Senate field have not yet been called. As of 8 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Peltola had 48% of the vote and Sullivan had…
This is definitely concerning. Shaking up campaign staff certainly happens, but this close to the primary? The link in this story is broken - the story shows on the Alaska Land Mine home page, but the story itself isn’t found. This gives more info, but like the other stories out there, beyond the top people, the rest refer to the missing story.
This is an unusual race pitting two state wide winners against each other. Incumbancy probably doesn’t mean much except Sullivan hasn’t done all that much to help Alaskans personally. Let’s see if oil company money helps the Republican. Remember each year Alaskans get a check from their share of oil and gas profits.
The Juneau Independent also has this story of more TMF fuckery:
As best as I can put it together, the Peltola story seems to be that campaign staff either ginned up or at least approved a Kamala Harris fundraising message that split the funds received 50/50. That was a deeply stupid idea for any number of reasons, no. 1 being that it’s Alaska and no. 2 being that getting endorsed by a loser in exchange for half the money-grubbing cash is ass-backwards. Firing eveyone involved in that unauthorized decision is not only appropriate, it’s necessary.
Also speaks volumes to Kamala’s candidacy for 2028. Thank you for your service, but go away.
It sure looks like they did this without running it by the candidate.
The political judgment from the Harris Inc side was also spectacularly bad. It explains a lot about how Harris lost.
Peltola got 48% of the vote. Sullivan got 42%. There was this other guy running as a Republican who has the same name as Sullivan. How is the rest of the vote going to split.
