After All That, Why Was Tucker Carlson Canned Now?

This was my thought. Will whomever replaces him be worse???

I, for one, am fine if the door hits him on the way out.

In fact I’m fine if he gets stuck in the revolving door and is hit repeatedly

The media incestuously commenting on the media re Tucker Carlson has blown this thing up into a cataclysmic pseudo-event. Judging from the headlines, you’d think it was Peral Harbor. For all the (justly deserved) ridicule of Don Jr., the supposedly respectable commentariat is aping his comment that Carlson is “a thought leader” on the level of Bertrand Russell.

No.

He’s just another mass-produced ventriloquist’s dummy created by the Conservative Media-Entertainment Complex. There’s nothing edgy or transgressive about what he’s said, it’s exactly what a lot of billionaires say to each other when they’re at Bohemian Grove, and it’s exactly the kind of word cocktails that they calculate will act as catnip (or fentanyl) on about 45% of the American public.

Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly were edgy and transgressive in their day, and now they’ve disappeared as completely as Judge Crater; they served their purpose and were tossed on the ash-heap of history, just as is happening with Carlson.

Fox messaging isn’t going to change, but its reach will. Still absorbing, with great gratitude, that Fox, which is driven by revenue and profit, would fire its most profitable asset, Tucker Carlson. Which, in turn, will not help its negotiations to boost carriage fees. Maybe his five-year contract demands, no doubt in excess of his current $20 million a year, had a negative cost/benefit in all that. Josh is right, we are not seeing the full picture.

But, thank whatever gods there be, it’s done. Whatever megaphone he acquires, it will not be the FOX 8 pm slot, and that is a blessing for mankind.

It’s an oddly pitched, squeaky voice. And he’s short.

Yeah, it’s not woke to criticize appearance, but there is an undeniable quality of “likeability” in any election. Many people do make decisions based on superficial factors like this. My Mom used to say that she could tell if a politician was honest by the “look of their eyes.” Completely irrational, but she voted that way. Used to drive me nuts.

Seriously? All they have is ‘what if’ to go against Biden? I see where this campaign is going.

This is too good. He has no chance at Prez, can he destroy his Governorship?? I’d say it’s in play, and D’s may even have a chance at the seat.

Such a not-funny clown.

Possibly. But Trump is also key to the $787 million settlement.

Absolutely! And it’s gonna be sweet.

Darius (our persian) does that with the grey squirrels that live in the ravine behind our condo. It doesn’t bother the greys, either. That’s a beautiful red squirrel, by the way.

It may be. He’s crashing and burning hard and fast. Like I said in another post, I’m hoping his governorship is the ultimate casuality. He’s so not up to his job. And just as easy to rile up as Orange Voldemort is, without the cult following.

I wonder how much TFG’s campaign is going to gouge the MAGATs for them.

Reads well but I doubt it. Fox and Rupert have no interest in dancing to Donald’s tune. At this point, irrational and vocal support for DJT from Fox hosts is UNdesirable. Rupert wants Donald to go away.

Isn’t he term-limited as well? So lame duck flapping.

I don’t think this is so far-fetched, I was predicting it before he got fired.
If Chump is indicted and otherwise looking shaky…the Rs don’t have anyone except DeathSentence and Meatball Ron doesn’t have any chops when under the spotlight or playing ball with the rest of the RW. DeathSentence may be good at fascism and getting a captive legislature to rubber-stamp atrocities…but 1+ years on the stump gives him plenty of time to implode. Snarlson, in some ways, has had decades of spotlight training and messaging discipline and an inside track with the Rubes and FOX ecosystem.

But by attacking Kamala it plays so well into Trump’s view on women, on ethnicity, and the “base’s” theory that Joe is just a figure head. The last one is funny to me, since Trump had, and probably still has, no idea how gov’t works. He surrounded himself with people who had an axe to grind, but they had experience in gov’t which he did not.

More concerning, can he destroy Florida, before he destroys his Governorship? Not looking forward to what transpires when he ends his presidential bid, and has nothing left to do but turn Florida into a rightwing torture chamber for anyone who lives there who is not white and male. Does he stop with the damage he’s done, since he doesn’t need it to run for prez anymore, or does he carry on because the cruelty is the point and he has nothing better to do? That man is a walking slapstick comedy act, but he is also scary.
