The top officials at the Department of Homeland Security don’t have any legal basis to be doing those jobs, a congressional watchdog said Friday, strengthening the foundation for legal challenges to the Trump officials’ decisions in office.
”On Friday, the Government Accountability Office, the legislative watchdog office, told inquiring lawmakers that Wolf and Cuccinelli didn’t actually have a legal basis to hold those jobs.”
Asked if he’ll accept billions in postal funding if the Democrats will give him some of what he wants on other matters, Trump says, “Sure, if they give us what we want.”
I can’t figure out if Trump and Meadows (or whoever the COS at the time) decided that “they don’t need no stinking confirmations” on their own or if Moscow Mitch advises them to forget the confirmation process.
If I’m a Capitol Hill reporter, I’m asking that question of the august Senate leader until I get an answer. Of course the “And why not?” is the follow up question. And its follow up to is “Why are you letting him get away of ignoring the Constitution?”
