ACLU Lists Gov’t Reasons For 911 Family Separations This Year

The government has separated 911 children from their parents since a federal judge ordered a stop to the systematic Trump administration policy last June, the ACLU reported in a court filing Wednesday.

And you can bet the judge will look for an out for the Administration rather than hurt someones fee fees by throwing their ass in jail for contempt.

Another important wrinkle that goes unmentioned in the article is that the US government has defined “family” to mean biological parents and children only. Traveling with an older sibling, aunt or uncle? Into the cages.

The government is clearly inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on these families. When will someone go to jail for it?

Edit: damn you autocorrect!

Accountability. Hold people accountable, please. No excuses. Fire their asses if they don’t try to enforce the intent of the law.

Some separations, the group said, were based on clerical errors, bureaucratic indifference, unproven accusations of gang affiliations or otherwise minor offenses, like the “malicious destruction of property value $5.”

The cruelty is the point.

What do you want to bet that the “malicious destruction of property” was throwing a baloney sandwich away in disgust?

I can only hope the judge makes them justify every single separation and holds individual border patrol agents and their supervisors up the line responsible. Throw them in jail for contempt and personally fine them. Then consider whether prosecutors can charge some of these bastards with kidnapping, child abuse, assault and anything else that comes to mind.

“Six family separations, the ACLU said, were justified by past marijuana possession arrests or convictions.”

The Feds just can’t kick their addiction to using weed as their excuse for mistreating brown people and violating their rights and humanity.

Well of course it had to be 911. Only then could dickhead run in and pull the survivors out from beneath the wreckage of our immigration policy. Let me guess, he sees Muslims on the border celebrating this suffering.

FIFY.

I think even a baloney sandwich might cost more than $5. And 6 days in jail for that? I have to think @tiowally is right: cruelty is really the point.

I’ve been yelling this until I am out of air. The people who are indifferent, incompetent, and who would steal kids based on a bit of property worth $5 need to be in jail. trump included. The government policy of separation is intentional child abuse. And a judge has said it must stop yet trump continues and nobody cares.
Has trump been impeached yet?

Does this kid look like he is enjoying himself surrounded as he is by big beefy men with guns??

or how about THIS kid? (this photo was a bit staged. The kid really isn’t separated from his mom but still it gets the point across)

Yes, trump’s avowed policy is to be cruel to brown and black human beings. As cruel as he can get away with.

Right. Six days in jail for destruction of $5 worth of property is disproportionate. Cruel and unusual even.

I was trying to contemplate why even bring charges? I suspect it’s the same as how mouthy suspects are suddenly “resisting arrest” which justifies using force to restrain them.

So someone fails to appreciate all that the CBP is doing for them and gets six extra days in jail and their kid stolen. It’s unconscionable and the country doesn’t seem to care

Kidnapping: the action of abducting someone and holding them captive.

911 counts…and counting.

The count is at minimum more like 3000.
In reality it is likely north of 10,000 but a lot of kids have been deliberately lost in the bureaucracy among several departments.
And any trace has been, as a matter of policy, lost.

Doesn’t matter. These are crimes against humanity and Pelosi doesn’t even mention them. Children are dying in U.S. custody, but no mention of crimes by the top Democrats.

UN observers should be called in. The International Red Cross should be inspecting and reporting. The Hague should be notified.

But no. Who cares? We have a lawless racist Republican government enabled by the Democratic House Speaker.

Pelosi’s idea of a pillar of diversity is racist Republican Ronald Reagan who was recorded on tape as referring to Africans as "those monkeys from those African countries, damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!”

Pelosi loves Ronald Regan. She quotes him all the time, she says.

Horrible Democratic House Speaker. Meanwhile, the crimes against humanity on our southern border continue unabated.

Must differ here. I think this does matter but I agree with the crimes against humanity part. Blaming Pelosi takes your eye off the real perp…TRUMP is the one. Stay focused on him.
It’s trump’s policy. His cruelty. He’s the one.
I will never forgive him.

Sorry, Darrtown, I disagree. Pelosi is enabling Trump at this point. She is the only one with the power to put the brakes on him. The Senate won’t and he ignores the judiciary.

It is long past the time for impeachment.

As could McConnell but he surely will not.
