There is no one I want running Donald Trump’s impeachment defense more than Donald Trump himself, although the idiots around him (Giuliani, Sekulow, etc.) could not possibly do any better.
Having Fat Ass digitally drooling a large percentage of each day on Twitter, and watching his GOP fluffers having to defend the moron 24 hours a day, would not only seal his doom, it would also provide us with hilarity of astronomical proportions.
I assume this will go about as well as with anyone who decides to represent himself in court, rather than use a lawyer…

I like Trump’s strategy here because it is incredibly stupid and increases the odds that he gets removed from office.

He’s got, what, 60 million or so Twitter followers, it’s said? First, has the number been verified, really? I’d think the media would dig into this, ask those who run Twitter to come up with proof, and/or get some research on this number done by some tech heads. This would make a great news story, especially if it turns out there’s a gross exaggeration.
A separate, but related question, is what influence do his Tweets really have? Who are the people reading them and what other news sources and influencers do they have?

PS Remember how Captain Queeg (played brilliantly by Humphrey Bogart) rolled steel balls in his hand when testifing and coming apart in the movie version of “Mutiny on the Bounty?” Maybe here we have the digital equivalent.

This. Keep saying this. We have way too much unicorn thinking here on this matter. When directly confronted, no one can come up with a credible list.
Which Senators are up for reelection in states that aren’t deep, dark red? That’s your list, and they will turn on Trump if the polls start looking grim because they have no greater guiding principal than self-preservation.

I also think the factual takes on this issue being presented nightly by Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Seth Myers are treasonous lies! They don’t even present a disclaimer at the start of their shows they’re not experts, and everything they know is hearsay!! Investigate and arrest them!!! Arghhh!!! Grr!!
