Abrego Garcia Judge Upbraids Trump DOJ

Reminder: The very first enactment passed by the GOP and signed by Donald Trump in February 2017 deliberately made it easier for the mentally ill to acquire firearms.

Gun violence > fear > GUN SALES > gun violence > fear > GUN SALES > gun violence…

MASS SHOOTINGS ARE MARKETING EVENTS.

Hmm I’ve got a bit more water than usual in the Meramec River in StL County. We’re getting some more rain latter in the week.
I will say that we’ve only had very minor flooding this Spring.

Half the electorate demanded the insanity, pain, carnage, economic losses and deaths we are experiencing. Trump voters did this to us. Along with Democrats that failed to go to the polls. I am not a believer in karma, per se, but about 80 million people deserve something terrible to befall them. And maybe it has. Sucks to be the collateral damage, though.

This is the NYT article below that Trump was ranting TREASON! about on social media. Worth reading, with details like the reason Iran has been able to bounce back with missile capability is that we didn’t have enough of our own stockpiles to do anything more than seal the tunnel entrances of missile launcher sites, not take out the entire site with bunker buster missiles. Easy for Iran to dig them out during a ceasefire. Free gifted link:

U.S. Intelligence Shows Iran Retains Substantial Missile Capabilities

Secret new assessments say Iran has operational access to 30 of its 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that its military remains far stronger than President Trump has asserted.

We’re being judged, and found failing.

I am on the clock until 3pm so I can’t do research…
but I sincerely wonder how gas prices were doing under Chump in late 2020 and what was the trajectory as he descended into treason and insurrection?

Even if it were a valid argument by Burgum, if we spool back the tape a little further wouldn’t we see that all the financial woes of COVID and the deaths, failures, grift, denial, and yes even the vaccines and lockdowns and pandemic assistance payouts* started under Chump.

Most people don’t remember it all very well, it is a blur and something they’ve had to bury. But goddam, these Republicans can’t deal with REALITY, yet they have perfected spending all their resources on re-writing it.

*ETA: These are the good things (or at least obvious and logical things that nearly any country on Earth would do for their people) that MAGAts turned into negatives and blamed Dems for

I don’t know that they deserve it, but they are quite literally paying the price for their poor judgement and the rest of us have been dragged along with them.

You mean if Biden had said something like… “Hunter knows a pool guy…”?

Only the Andes strain of hantavirus is known to be transmitted from human to human. In the outbreak documented in NEJM, the virus spreads without physical contact or prolonged exposure. One patient gets sick after simply crossing paths with someone who was ill. Two others are infected while seated at tables meters away. One person infected five others within 90 minutes at one party. The NEJM authors suggested that the virus spreads through the air.

Although the NEJM evidence is clear, officials have kept repeating “prolonged, close contact,” so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything. [He wasn’t.]

Even if US officials weren’t sugar-coating events to credulous reporters, what we know now will be drastically impacted by events of tomorrow.

Public-health officials have to be more honest and more humble about how this virus actually spreads. An essential lesson from COVID is that officials should be candid about communicating that we are often learning in real time, and we should shy away from making bold pronouncements that may prove dangerously misleading weeks or months later. When it comes to preventing an outbreak from becoming a pandemic, insisting on the wrong answer to that most central question—How does it spread?—may well be worse than not having an answer at all.

Trump is immune. And every person guilty of committing a crime during his term is getting a pardon, at least those managing to stay in his good graces. And people out of favor will maybe get pardoned also, to prevent their deeds being exposed in a trial. I was watching Nicolle Wallace the other day, and her panel wondered if there was any reason at all for a person in Trump’s orbit to obey the law, the prospect of pardons being so strong. The Atlantic published a very strongly sourced article about Patel, which he categorically denied, under oath, in a Congressional hearing. Did he lie and perjure himself? If he did it doesn’t matter, he’ll get a pardon. If you work for Trump you can ignore our laws. You’re immune, just as he is.

Off topic:

Why do politicians and news analysts keep referring to what’s “going to happen in 2026”?

This IS 2026. Can they say “this year” or “this November” or “this fall”?

Just asking.

This is a global phenomenon that reflects slowing of the thermohaline conveyor driving ocean currents and seasonal weather patterns. Finland, which has tens of thousands of lakes, is experiencing a drought so severe it has interfered with inland navigation. East Africa has been experiencing drought with occasional respites for over a decade, which has impacts as far afield as Egypt.

They’re only marketing events because it’s almost a guarantee that they lead to Dems trying to take gun rights away from law-abiding citizens.

When they can’t even enforce the laws on the books now. This guy was a convicted felon, so he illegally got this gun and went on a rampage.

I’m sure passing a few more laws would’ve stopped the already-convicted felon illegally obtaining a weapon from stacking a couple more felonies on top or something.

“Donald Trump has arrived in China to find that President Xi did NOT greet him at the airport,” reads a statement from the progressive advocacy platform Call To Activism, run by digital strategist and political influencer Joe Gallina.

“MAGA is in spin mode heralding the ‘red carpet treatment,’ but the visit is already at a rocky start. Instead of a presidential welcome, Trump was greeted by US Ambassador to China David Perdue; Xi’s vice president, Han Zheng; China’s Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng; and Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu.”

If anyone has been a manager or supervisor with an edgy employee that needs intervention of some form, you probably recognize Patel’s tactic. I have had to deal with it several times over the years in different places. It can be intimidating until you learn not to let it drive your response.
