I’m not sure the media is to blame. Even back when I was studying economics back in the prior century, it was well known that every decade or so, some smooth-talking huckster would show up on Wall Street, (usually literally) and sell, to a bunch of utterly gullible stock traders, a perpetual motion machine. It happened so regularly, you could all but set your watch by it. Crypto currencies have the exact same pseudo-scientific appeal, and financial types, like everyone else, have absolutely no idea what they don’t know, but they have a great deal of money to invest… until, you know, they reach the finding out stage.

The day’s testimony ended with another clash between Trump’s counsel and the judge over the judge’s law clerk. MSNBC’s Lisa Rubin has a pet theory for why Trump attorney Christopher Kise would go to such lengths to antagonize the judge in a judge-tried case: It steered the news coverage away from the debacle of Eric’s testimony.
I’ll buy that. But I’m also wondering if Kise is acting as a proxy for Trump. Ever since his second violation of the gag order in that trial, Trump has still been venting his frustrations about it but has not said anything about the law clerk. Knowing Trump as we do, though, you have to know his biting his tongue about her is killing him. Enter Kise, to the point that I saw somewhere yesterday that the judge said that if this harassment continued that he’d extend the gag order to Trump’s lawyers.

The Speaker is over his head and yesterday talked about laddered CRs which prompted this response from Rosa DeLauro. It is November 3 and the government runs out of $$ on November 17.
“I think the speaker doesn’t have a clue,” top House Democratic appropriator Rose DeLauro (D-CT) told reporters in response. “He doesn’t know about the appropriations process… That’s 12 shutdowns. What are we talking about?”

The risk that Trump would flee the country isn’t only unlikely due to his 24/7 Secret Service detail, although that would be one hell of a complication. It’s because he doesn’t fly commercial airlines, ever.
He does own a 757 with the range to reach another country, but his crew would have to commit the criminal act of filing a false flight plan, and that plane doesn’t have the enough range without a refueling stop to reach Saudi Arabia (the likely destination) directly.
Going back to the USSS protection, I think that’s the main reason he’d never flee. You can’t buy that level of protection for any amount of money, and it complicates his eventual incarceration if he’s convicted in one of these trials. He would lose that protection if he scampered.

Last night l O’Donnell made clear that there is only one agency that collects revenue, the IRS. Now if this snowball miraculously survives our current Hell then MOC still get paid, but the poor folk will not get food.
