Every [ETA: state court] judge in Tarrant County is an elected Republican. Every justice at the Fort Worth Court of Appeals is an elected Republican. Every justice of the Texas Supreme Court is an elected Republican.

Is this a real story or is it propaganda pushed by TPM. As I read it the local county is reducing the number of polling places in a mandatory off year election with very little on the ballot, inorder to save taxpayer money. I think this sort of thing happens every off year across the country. It happens in Democratic as well as Republican counties. Elected officials are always trying to save money. It is really their job.
What that official really means is that encouraging more voter participation would mean less control by the conservative elite, and that would be, in his view, a bad thing.
And they can’t cheat at governing without winning the election.
