This is breaking news subject to revision.
But the South Korean presidential coup appears to be over. Facing what appears to have been unified political opposition across the political spectrum, including in his own party, and lukewarm support from the military, South Korean President Yoon went before the cameras a few moments ago and announced he was lifting his decree of martial law.
may we take inspiration from the Korean people. I fear we may need it.
I keep trying to imagine Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries responding to an attempted declaration of martial law in the US with the same vigor and alas, I cannot.
I can’t picture them getting an alley-oop over a fence, true, but they did okay on jan 6 - didn’t let themselves be herded to a ‘safe place’ offsite. stayed in session to get the job done. Their republican colleagues however…
