A Shortlist of Federal Data the Trump Administration Has Tampered With or Destroyed

The scale and scope of federal data and statistics that have been completely removed or otherwise compromised by President Donald Trump’s administration is too overwhelming to chronicle fully. When the president’s executive orders banning diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives came down in January and February, the federal agencies now under his authority scrambled to comply.…

I predict history will treat Donald Trump as a corrupt stain on the history of this nation.

But I bet more than a few Americans would treat this as a who-cares moment. There’s still a good sized segment of the population that wants to get rid of the government that they perceive lies to them anyway, so why not tear it up and start over?

Excellent summary. Knowledge is power, and TFG has revised that saying to “don’t try to understand, and it can’t possibly matter.”

“The Administration remains committed to the publication of timely, reliable, and accurate government data that informs decision-making by policymakers, businesses, and families,” Desai said. “That does not include government data programs used to push DEI and other ideological agendas.”

If you read the rest of the article it is clear the administration has replaced what it considered to be one ideological agenda for another. No improvement. Actually much worse.

This is important work. The immediate harm to both the audiences for which the data is needed and to trust in any government data is real. The long term impact includes the future need to go back to the original data, and to recreate the data sets based on clean, untampered-with source data. We’re going to need clean and traceable baseline data to understand the damage this regime has done.

His follow Republicans should not get off easily either, after all they know he was a convicted felon and when they voted for and worked with him.
He is a 5th column unto himself.

A number of agencies have suspended work during the shutdown including the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), a prime candidate for compromise in this mal-administration because they publish inflation data. In Paul Krugman’s discussion of probable reasons for the surging gold price – see Ingots We Trust - Paul Krugman – he adds as an aside that investors may want to contemplate the impact of inflation data manipulation on their inflation-adjusted bond investments.

We just might be in Kansas now Toto.

He is indeed a shitstain, but the damage is more like black ice on the road, than the mere greasy spot where roadkill used to be.

Isn’t it a funny old thing where private businesses are trying to set up data centers anywhere in the US where there is a good constant water supply? I mean I take this shuttering of federal data collection to mean that some business will take over to try and do what the federal gov’t has been doing. The problem with a private data business is that users will have to pay. And then there’s reliability and standards issues.
And lastly, JFC! Trump thinks his running a business and not a government.

The USGCRP presented the most recent climate assessment report to Congress but NASA abandoned plans to host the data online, telling NPR that the agency “has no legal obligations” to do so.

What, exactly, are we the taxpayers, getting for our money?

Surprise! The federal government already is a heavy user of commercial data services: Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc. All that government data is not necessarily maintained on federal servers.

This isn’t the sex act that we paid for…

July 2018 the CF said, “Just remember: What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening”

So you should not believe what you read, hear, or see - especially when it comes out of the CF administration.

The only way Trump leaves office is in a body bag or pushed out by conservatives for going to far and the latter seems unlikely.

No longer LGTBQ+. Trans and queer are removed.

“In this fight, in this movement, it was also trans people, especially trans women of color, like Marsha P Johnson, Sylvia, Rivera, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, black and brown trans women that stood at the forefront of this movement,” said Angelica Christina, the Board Director of the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative, in an interview with ABC News. “We would not have pride as we know it today without trans people, without trans women.”
