Worse. Trump and the GOP sre.planning to steal elections by preventing people from receiving ballots without even time to use an alternative method. They are doing this in defiance of court rulings.

It did not work, it did not almost work, and it absolutely still would not have worked without Pence’s conscience ever coming into play. The President of the Senate does not decide which votes count. Objections do not prevail without (at that time) majority votes of both chambers, both of which were held on 1/6/2020 by Democrats. And that process has fuck-all nothing to do with how congressional elections are certified and the winners sworn in.
You may remember the Al Franken recount taking approximately forever. That was because STATE LAW provided for how that played out. The Senate did not decide who won that election.
I know you feel weak and helpless and terrified. Get over it.

Everything I said is happening, and in Texas…they just invalidated registrations, they just closed polling stations in Tarrant county, and there’s the attempt to stop mail in ballots from going out by USPS. Republicans are definitely trying ti pull all the levers possible to interfere with the vote…if they can keep people from voting then they win, and that’s always their plan. They should realize that once a vote is counted that’s really it, they can’t undo those totals (or haven’t been able to so far) and lose all the court cases. Blocking voters is their play, and they are really pushing right now to make that happen.
But, I did note that I think voters will come out in droves if they really try to block them…people absolutely hate it when someone tries to take something away from them. That’s not dooming, if people really do react that way then Democrats will still pull some kind of win out of it. I just don’t know how it’s going to go, but it looks like Repulbicans are going to go all out to cheat, and whether they will be successful is up in the air.

I am keeping careful track of my ballot and if it is even delayed by a few days, I am jumping all over it.

I hope you are right. But I can’t do anything about that so I don’t worry about it. Instead, I am writing GOTV postcards (60 so far) for Center for Common Ground. Probably won’t get too many additional votes, but every one counts. In 2017, Dems won control of the VA house for the first time in 16 years be exactly one vote.
And you are nevertheless vastly exaggerating and doomering it. Stop doing that. It helps nothing and no one.

I’m feeling especially old today (I’m only in my mid-80s) and impatient as ever to see the decisive defeat of rage-maker Trump and his vile administration.
But I’ve been a progressive too long not to know the rigor required of me:
I cannot allow myself to be fearful.
I cannot despair.
Gloom and doom are idle companions. I need allies with hope and empathy.
I cannot withdraw from the battle. There is always something I can do to support my allies. Even if it is only to bear witness.
But, Sisters and Brothers, this is an existential crisis. We must fight for our freedom or lose it.

Had lunch with a retired AZ Superior Court judge today, who made a similar point. There are processes at work that will be effective; just because the results aren’t immediate is no reason to panic. He opined that the larger problem is the money in politics, parallel with a congress who has the authority to address it, but does nothing.
