A Rundown Of Election Mail Sabotage Claims DeJoy Will Have To Answer For | Talking Points Memo

They can make a case for sorting machine removal

In 2018, for instance, the agency decommissioned about 3 percent of its Delivery Bar Code Sorters, or 125 machines. In 2019, it was 5 percent, or 186 machines. The 671 on this year’s list amounted to about 13 percent.

The agency “routinely moves equipment around its network as necessary to match changing mail and package volumes,” the Postal Service said in a statement. “Package volume is up, but mail volume continues to decline.”

Still, it does look very suspect to remove that many machines before an anticipated increase in mail due to VBM. Looks like deliberate sabotage to delay mailed ballots to me. If they really needed to remove that many machines, it should be done after the election, not before.

Anyone know if there’ll be a blog on DeJoy’s Senate hearing (this isn’t the one I’m more interested in, because the GOP will just slobber all over him - Monday’s the big one)??

Seriously hoping that DeJoy gets indicted on state charges in several jurisdictions over this.

All of these moves would have plausible deniability in a normal year. But when they know there’s a large peak of time-critical mail on the way, and jam the changes through without (apparently) any significant planning, that’s sabotage.

OK there’s a lot info to suss out from this Wiki page,

And I see from DeJoy’s Wiki page he was placed as Postmaster General in May of this year.

But this seems late in the Trump maladministration to be “overhauling” systems.
And why are there investment bankers on the board of Governors? Seems :fish:

ETA: please note in the Board of Governors entry McConnell held up 3 nominations from Obama.

That’s not how it’s done. The game is manufacture a problem then fix it in a way that achieves an unmentionable goal. Take Voter Fraud. That’s a fabricated problem but it justifies the fix: voter suppression. In the case of Post Office inefficiency that justifies the fix: ballot obstruction. If there’s a Time on Target for this shit, like Nov. 3, you have to have everything “fixed” before that.

It’s obvious the DeJoy and Trump knew there’d be a ruckus over their shit. So the plan had before it went into effect a work around for that. Get moving quick. Gut the joint and then offer to stop since there was an appearance of impropriety. That was in the playbook before the first mailbox was hiked. It fits the new formula for outrageous acts by government. Just fucking do it. Weather out the storm and you have it.

Sen Rosen of NV cooked DeJoy’s goose.
Followed by Rand Paul who opened DeJoy’s fly to give him oral.
Gotta believe DeJoy has said to himself, “I didn’t sign on for this. Trump said it would be easy”.

I want to talk more about mail-order prescription drug sabotage. After 100 days of this, approximately everyone who gets their meds this way could be affected, depending on when their 90-day supplies run empty. This President wants to repeal not just the ACA, but also Social Security and Medicare. What better way to start than to get people used to skipping insulin and heart pills for a few days.

Outside of Medicare and Social security, there is nothing in the government the GOP Coc…er… Republicans hate more than the Post Office. I have heard them bitch about it at caucuses with this weird fury.

I sent a priority mail letter from CA to NJ. It was supposed to arrive on a Tue.
Tracking showed it went from CA to Phila, then to Long Island, then to NJ to arrive on Friday.

Yep, exactly. Maybe if we put some real heat on the DeJoy in the form of criminal indictments, we might see some changes.

Hey ya’ll just a question because I’m curious. If you are mailing a check for payment how many days out from the due date do you mail, and I mean before DeJoy mucked the system up.

David Williams has a different take on this; it’s all Mnunchin. Williams is the former governor on the board of the USPS and has already testified to the house. This is VERY revealing.

I wonder if NoJoy was removing machines that were back-ups, or like I said put into use for certain times during the year? I can’t imagine any business that uses a machine to accomplish a big part of their job to not have a back-up or to use when another machine is under going repair

It’s not just the machines that disappeared; the extra people that ran them went too. You know, the extra people that you need for rush hour?

A lotta people in the USPS chain of command (beginning with DeJoy but not limited to him) need to answer for their deceitful, methodical and very intentional destruction of the USPS mail delivery system in all it’s various parts. The obvious object of their fucking up the system is to prevent delivery of ballots to voters and then return of same back to where the ballot is to be counted. The apparent thinking of the trump crowd is only liberals fear the virus and so have decided on mail in voting. The trump crowd is willing to lose any goober who decides, out of a sense of safety, to vote by mail.

Nice post. Agree about Reagan. I don’t believe Reagan was a mean man. I think he was the quintessential useful idiot “hired” to do what he did for corporate America. His head was stuffed like a ragbag full of right wing laissez-faire economics and 1950’s anti -communism. Before he went into total dementia he could read from a teleprompter like actors we hired for trade shows. He delivered for his masters.

It’s a joy to watch such competence in these settings. I presume it’s the “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” fantasy writ large for real.
Her cross exam is no ex tempore. She knows her law and prepares. She doesn’t just wing it. Perry Mason moments take preparation.

And then there’s me who doesn`t care for iceberg or arugula… only very recently did I change my voter registration from independent to democrat, to the wide eyed astonishment of Mrs darr who has listened so patiently to my vents about politics and then offered her far better ideas.
Thank you for an excellent and clear eyed post.

I ageee. Let’s call Bill fuBarr and Moscow Mitch right away. They’ll set these miscreants straight…!
