Very legitimate to notice the make-up of the staff. I noticed it also, and was disturbed.
And please donāt give me the nonsense about whether any potential staff had applied. There is such a thing as outreach and recruitment. Considering the nature of TPM and the subjects covered, I would hope thereād be a real dedication to recruit a diverse staff. In order to achieve that goal, it might require reaching beyond oneās typical sphere, but the whole idea behind fashioning a more diverse work force is that everyone benefits in the end.
I am very surprised to see readers here mouth the typical excuses. There should be no excuses. Either you value the input of a more diverse staff and make it happen, or it is not a priority. If it is not a priority, that definitely informs my view of the people who run the siteā¦
Iāve contributed to the site, and may still, but the lack of color in that group photo is very disconcerting.

Do not be surprised at all by the near-uniformity of thought by the commenters here at TPM. The outliers are all pilloried and placed in the banned area by a few malcontents - with the support of management, I assume.
BTW, Josh ,the fearless leader here, is a - what we would call - hard core racist. This manifests itself most clearly in his support of racist ZIonism and the aprtheid state of Israel. I think it is safe to assume this racism takes other forms too.
