Everything now is a de facto monopoly. Business has off-shored every possible part of the process, but our prices never went down, because the actors involved decided not to compete with each other.
That way they could keep all the money for themselves. Modern life is a joke.

This is obviously just outrageous and despicable and never mind what sort of better arrangement is possible society-wide down the road, this isn’t an insurance thing, OK? It’s pure exploitation of the noblest labor we have. It’s Gilded Age, robber-baron stuff. And if we don’t have regulators able and willing to stop it right now, I’d argue we don’t fundamentally have a government. This is what governments are for.

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz and President Scott Kirby thanked their 90,000 workers Friday afternoon for pressing lawmakers to pass a $2 trillion stimulus package with $58 billion in funding for beleaguered U.S. airlines, half of it grant aid to cover their payrolls and prevent layoffs through Sept. 30.
That’s not long enough to get the industry out of the woods, the United executives warned. They expect the downturn in travel from the coronavirus pandemic to last well beyond that date, and require painful cuts. “If the recovery is as slow as we fear, it means our airline and our workforce will have to be smaller than it is today,” they said in a letter to staff that was publicly released

But that common sense take is ‘CoMmUniSm!’ and even suggesting such a thing will cause the 'moderate Dems’ to throw a conniption fit call any politician that suggest that ‘as bad as Trump’ and will stay at home for the next election according to them.
