A Cash Crunch And Credit Card Spending Spree: Prosecutors Detail George Santos’ Wild Ride - TPM – Talking Points Memo

By his own admission, George Santos had his “back against the wall.”

Faced with a precarious situation in his bid to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional district, Santos was constantly low on cash and under pressure, per a new indictment against the freshman congressman unsealed on Tuesday.

Piggy, piggy, piggy! His lies, self-dealing, corruption, and dodging of any personal responsibility gains him the proper Repub bona fides.

Santos’s face should appear in every ad for Democrats running for House seats. Make him the face of the Republican House majority.

I don’t see where he violated Republican ethics.

Methinks that it may be time to start revising Kevin McCarthy’s reputation as a master fundraiser and political talent recruiter.

This clown could grift on atRump scale if had a $450M head start. Like, who am I thinking of?

*Redstone, which was identified as “Company #1” in the indictment was allegedly like so much else in Santos’ world, an illusion designed to enable grift. Prosecutors phrased it in blunt legalese: *

“These contributions to Company#1 were not spent on television advertisements or other independent expenditures.”

If Santos wasn’t gay he’d be a top Republican 2028 presidential candidate.

Santos burst into the national spotlight after he was elected in November 2022 when the New York Times revealed that he lied about his background during the campaign,

I get that we are saying that this is when people broadly started paying attention, but given that TPM itself struggles to get MSM to acknowledge their scoops, it would be appropriate to acknowledge here that a local newspaper had the goods on Santos during the 2022 election. It’s just that the MSM ignored them with their lazy focus on inside-the-Beltway cliches reported as political news.

Santos/Devolder…
Poster Boy for the Republicans.

Santos is given too much attention. Just report when he goes to prison.

White-collar crimers like Santos always make evidential records for the prosecutors. Lots of receipts.

On the contrary, he’s not being given enough attention. If there wasn’t the 91-count indictment of current GOP Presidential frontrunner Trump taking up all the oxygen, Santos would be regular frontpage news. He stands as a constant reminder that the Republican party prioritizes power and party over country and constitution.

I think it important to state that repeatedly until it gets through to the voters in 2024.

Excellent background on Santos’ current troubles. You can’t get a report like that on television, but you can on TPM.

I’d add the details of Santos’ behavior will be found and studied by other crooks. Better if we all know what’s possible and needs to be fixed.

So… Ponzi Scheme - > Bank Fraud - > US House of Representatives (as a republican) There is a definite theme here… He must think he died and went to grifter heaven… I honestly dont know if such a musical genre exists but… They are going to write republican folk songs about this guy. < \ snark

After his term in the House, Santos/Devolder will be a big name financial advisor to billionaires who will trust him with their investment portfolios.
