I’m not sure whether Trump will scuttle the deal…I’ll form an opinion after Fox & Friends and his other senior TV advisors weigh in.
Amen.
And right there is the fallacy of the argument.
I’ve been reading the many detractors on the internet who insist that the Congress is do-nothing and shouldn’t have that much trouble passing a budget. I want to see what happens here, so I can point to the end game situation and say, they’re doing all they can in the face of useless obstruction.
He’s going to get hammered by the usual suspects about their not being enough for his Beautiful Wall.
Then why not do away with the debt ceiling entirely? Putting the loaded gun away until the GOP can use it to threaten the next dem POTUS is not smart exactly because dems wouldn’t use it but GOPers would.
Because the donors need a way to ensure a President Warren won’t have freedom to propose all sorts of whacky things that help people.
I have to wonder what is more damaging to dem prospects, being painted as socialists by the GOP or our hand wringing about being painted as socialists by the GOP.
Or the fat ass signs.
Translation of the “deal,” as Trump sees it: If Mueller’s testimony is the LEAST BIT effective, I will have another hissy fit, and scuttle this agreement! Watch your ass, Pelosi!
POLITICO: The two-year extension kicks the politically unpopular issue past next year’s presidential cycle, offering much-needed breathing room for both parties.
Why do Democrats, who currently hold very little power, need “breathing room?”
He will likely sign this, and then proceed to ‘executive order’ his way around anything he doesn’t like.
Well, waddaya know, I usually bristle at the cliched “both sides do it” but in this case both sides have abrogated their fiscal responsibility to America by endorsing this monstrosity of a budget full of political accomodation and endless debt creation.
Gee and whaddya know - this deal also gets rid of Obama’s budget sequester. Remember that?
Yeah, stupid fucking deal. We don’t need more defense spending we need substantially less.
Its a bad deal for Democrats, voters credit the president’s party for bipartisan successes and blame the president’s party for partisan conflict. Its the reason why McConnell obstructed as bad as he did.
I could totally see that happening
What no funds for the Wall? It now spans about 30 feet and people just think its a monument to some dead Civil War politician.

Considering that Republican party uses the debt ceiling as a blackmail tool and the Democrats are more eager to govern, Democrats should use the leverage they currently have to eliminate the debt ceiling. Trump and his myopic-ness will be all too eager to agree.
Make no mistake, the debt ceiling is a horrible way to govern. You initially agree to budget, but then later have to arbitrarily negotiate a second time. This leads to constant kick the can games where government agencies have no idea what their short and mid term budget will be.
It was McConnell’s budget sequester.
Who’s hand wringing pilgrim? I’m just pointing out what Trump’s strategy is in picking the fight with the squad. The last thing he wants is for any of them to actually leave. They serve his purposes a lot better by staying put and being baited by his taunts.
She finished conducting budget negotiations from her coach seat on a Delta flight, reportedly holding a phone to her ear for hours as her plane sat on the tarmac. When she finished, she hung up and moved on to the Sunday Times Magazine crossword. All in a day for the speaker.
Any word on whether she’s a peanut or pretzel woman?
