Are they done completely independently of actual judges? If so, that would seem to be loosely analogous to the stated reason by the far-righties in and out of the courts about administrative rules being written by people in the relevant agencies being null and void because Congress did not write everything.

Usually, yes. The judges just send instructions on whatever administrative action they want to happen and the clerk’s office puts it in an order. “Motion for rehearing is GRANTED” would not be one any of the judges would need to put eyes on first.

YEAH RIGHT. Much more likely was there was swift blow back. I have a hard time believing that such a "clerical Error’ would occur.
