So what if they’re opposed to the PRC? Guo and Company count on Americans’ lack of sophistication about foreign countries and their stupid belief that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The Gulenists in Turkey are the same. Erdogan may be scum, and the Gulenists claim (what we’ve heard too often before) to be “enlightened” Islamists. But just because Erdogan persecutes them, it doesn’t mean they’re our new best friends.

And let’s remember that for a real billionaire, paying someone a million a month is peanuts. Median US household net worth before the pandemic was about $100K (which is a terrifyingly low number but let’s ignore that for the moment). So for a median household this is the equivalent of paying someone $100 a month to do odd jobs around the house.
