The USS Ford super carrier just a week ago spent 4 days in port in Crete doing resupply. I thought then this merry little adventure was on.
Surely THIS will bury any Epstein news.
Ford’s been at sea since June. She definitely needed the resupply (esp w/her toilets ‘acting up’).
Anthropic doesn’t build its own server farms, it outsources to AWS (Amazon) and Google cloud services, also Microsoft I think. One reason to stay connected to Silicon Valley. Also the US has a much more relaxed regulatory environment for AI than the EU. Anthropic wants safety restrictions but not the more hardcore EU versions with more red tape to wade through.
Well, there goes his shot at the Noble [sic] Peace Prize he’s been clamoring on about…..
Nothing says we can’t impeach the both of them together.
Vance has no friends anywhere - taking him out of the line of succession would be the easier path.
Yeah, and Mar-a-Lago is a safe place for a war room. [/s]
Nah, there are in the signal chats, Russia & China can monitor Pete from anywhere
Hasn’t worked that way in real life for a long time.
Yeah, but then we get spineless, depthless apparatchik Mike Johnson.
A lickspittle for the powers behind the GQP.
But the bright spot there is that then we have one less Republican in the House and that’s enough to flip the script in the role of SOTH.
Although it would be helpful, it would be short-lived.
The question would be how quickly Louisiana could schedule a special election to install another Dixiecrat.
“The Why” had me in fits haha
This is all very ignorant of how primary elections work. For instance, you do not know that every single primary voter’s choice of party ballot is a public fucking record. And the reason there was a line for Democrats and no line for Republicans is that there are barely any Republicans left in Dallas County!
Jebus Christ, did you want them to randomly hand you a Republican primary ballot instead?
FWIW, I haven’t seen much evidence that A1’s learned/been taught that self-preservation is a (if not THE) prime function. ![]()

It depends on what you mean by “formal.” Julliard? No. Church, a friendly neighbor, fellow musicians… It’s not hard to read music. The ability to do so doesn’t mean you depend on it most of the time. But it can come in very handy. And it’s absolutely necessary if you want to compose music that will reach a wide audience or create new arrangements.
Lost in this discussion is the role played by the innovations in printing that enabled the cheap production of sheet music in the mid-19th c.; the explosion in the number of performance “circuits” in the late 19th-early 20th c. (Vaudeville being the most remembered), along with the growing popularity of performance venues like nightclubs; and last but far from least, the arrival of the phonograph, radio (in most households by the late 1930’s), and the recording industry.
As a violinist, I practiced scales, arpeggios, and etudes as a warm-up or (in the case of etudes) to work on specific skills. Playing while reading the notes develops muscle memory. Learning a new piece: read the notes, develop muscle memory and more. To perform a piece, you’ve long since “memorized” it – that is, muscle memory plus you’re just free to explore the music, to live in and through it. It’s not as if learning a piece by reading notes and other markings eliminates the possibility of living in and through the music. That’s also true if you continue to rely on having the notes in front of you while you play, as in a string quartet or orchestra. Or in a Dixieland band.
There’s no reason to romanticize the inability to read music. Sure, some great musicians never learned to read music. Would their musical world have been richer and wider if they had learned to read music, esp. before the days of radio and recording, and of frequent and accessible performance venues? It’s worth wondering.
Biden still did the wrong thing. Whatever part of beginning or middle or end you so chose. Of course Trump should have been convicted. As opposed to being merely impeached. I guess that would have absolved Joe for his extraordinarily bad judgment. Love the guy, gave him money up until June 27, 2024. Obama had it right, “You can always count on Joe to screw things up.”
I am sure this covered in the bible somewhere.
So Lewandowski is the actual Secretary and Noem is just a particularly cruel dress up doll. Lovely.
Well, he is a pig. So Bay of Pigs II, Electric Boogaloo is right in theme.
