But he’s really Mr. Smith

More Neanderthal behavior from the Troglodyte Party I see. What the GQP needs is a new leader. Someone who is fearless and dedicated to Conservative Ideals and Ethics. Someone like this guy:

The part I liked best was when all the GQPers slunk out of the chamber when they’d tired of their charade, permitting the wily, quick witted Dems to reduce the upcoming “debate and pointlessly amend” session from 20 hours to a mere three. Bwah-ha-ha-ha!! Hoist on their own Piccard!

I admire the Republican’s new found fiscal responsability. So here is my suggestion to save maybe 33% of the money in this bill.
No benefits go to any registered republicanin any state or district where the Senator or representative opposes such relief.
Since much of this money is actually economic stimulus, this will be a broad experiment in effectiveness.
We need to do this. It’s a great test, and for those who have suddenly become morally opposed to government spending, it’s a huge price reduction.

Hey, the GQP might be better off with actual Neandertal leadership. It would beat the crop of weasels and snakes they now celebrate. (With apologies to actual weasels and snakes, of course.)

It’s wrong, but I like it.

My area would be hurt because my “representative” is the only trumper sent to Congress by the state of Maryland, but this approach would be a way to stop Republicans from mucking up the works then trying to take credit for the positive results.

I dunno if this is a good or bad amendment. The tax relief seems positive but a $100/wk cut in benefits is alot of money for some people.

UPDATE: Democratic Sen. Tom Carper (Del.) will propose cutting the unemployment benefit in Biden's bill from $400/week to $300/week -- but extending it through September, rather than August, & including tax forgiveness of ~$10K in unemployment benefits

Could see many Ds backing https://t.co/438gVjxPie

Jimmy Stewart was a Republican who staunchly supported the US invasion of Vietnam.

On the other hand, he was himself a combat veteran.

Extending the benefit a month will help folks.

Senate Democrats have agreed to cut the UI from $400 to $300 per week, but extend it through September instead of August.

Furthermore, $10,200 of unemployment benefits will be tax free under this agreement.

Trolling, self-indulgence, corruption, obstruction, violence, myopia, hysteria, fantasies – these are the public face of the GQP now. They will keep tens of millions of followers very happy. But tens of millions more than that will turn away.

I really like where this is heading, but I agree it’s not without risk because their tens of millions are more committed than our larger force. If Joe Manchin and some other Ds in the Senate don’t see that, they may not want to see it. But they can’t allow what the Rs are about now to hide behind what they were in the now-distant past.

What I think is really cool about this is the Democrats used Johnson’s absence to reduce the number of hours of debate from 20 to 3. That means shortening of the process by 6 hours.

Did his sad ass actually show up and listen to it?

With a practical impact of an additional two workdays, since most of that reading time took place well into the night.

Total self-own to not leave even a single member of the republicans in the room to object.

That might be the first tax cut in history the GOP will oppose because it doesn’t benefit the “job creators” and won’t trickle down.
