This is extreme sadism…Talking into account the hell hole the White House is, losing their jobs ought to be liberating. It’s like telling someone being tortured in the rack not to worry about their lives.
And the appropriate response to such reassurances is to announce calmly but firmly, “This place is a fucking shit show. You’re damn right I don’t have to worry about my job anymore because I quit.” Then calmly grab your coat and walk out of the room, mumbling audibly about not wanting to miss your appointment with the special investigator.
In my dreams, but - hey - we all need them.
I don’t work in the White House, but every once in a while one of my coworkers says something like “I might get fired for this”, and my response is always “What makes you so lucky?”.
I don’t know why a qualified person would stay at a job like that. A qualified person would say Go f* yourself. Oh god - there are no qualified people in the WH!
