They’d rather believe Ann Coulter saying the kids are all “child actors who need to improve their script” and not really migrant refugees fleeing to save their lives. I would ask Coulter how a one year old baby memorizes a script. It would be neat trick.

You’re certainly willing to giving her credit for having only selfless (for herself and Trump) motives. I hope you’re right. However, even in the few minutes of conversation that have been broadcast, Melania’s first assessments are “This is good” and “You’re doing a wonderful job.” That is very different than saying “I want to get to the bottom of what’s happening”

ETA: On the other hand if you are taking seriously the things she’s saying at the border, then don’t forget she said this:
“I’m here to learn about your facility which I know you house children on a long-term basis,” she said. “And I would also like to ask you how I can help these children to reunite with their families as quickly as possible.”

You know damn fucking well that this has been coordinated with the WH and ICE so that she will go down there and they will have carefully arranged photo-ops showing what a wonderful “daycare-like” experience these children are having…showing them playing soccer (during the 1 hour outside the cages they are permitted each day), laughing with each other, flocking to see the pretty white lady who is bravely carrying the White Man’s Burden for him this wonderful sunny summer day…maybe she’ll even hold some mother’s crying infant without that mother’s permission, using her precious orphaned infant as a prop in what amounts to a campaign commercial paid for by the US taxpayers…and she and the rest of the country will see none of the forced medication incidents, the handcuffed nakedness, the 4-point-restraint bag-over-the-head showers and the younger children who have literally lost their voices and gone hoarse from crying inconsolably for hours on end. Heck, why even report on this at all…it’s not like you can easily find the reports of abuse and illegality if you go over to Faux News anyway. Not only is it not happening, the allegations aren’t even happening.
