Discussion: Loretta Lynch Has The Votes To Be AG, But Will McConnell Give Her A Vote?

Discussion for article #235018

When your hatred of all things Obama burns to the point that you are willing to set your own hair on fire, you have turned from politics to the pathological.

History will not be kind to McConnell.

This has been the past, and is the present. It will be the future as along as people just blindly vote for a party they picked when they were barely an adult.

A vote for Republicans is a vote against safe and legal abortion. Now, if that’s where you want to put your vote, that’s your right. But if you are still fooling yourself that the Republicans are the small government party of freedom, you need to watch how they operate. Every important bill gets abortion language attached to it. The Attorney General position has abortion attached to it. It’s all about abortion, Obamacare, and shifting money away from the poor and into tax breaks for corporations. That’s all they’ve been working at for years. They offer no new ideas. Just the same three things over and over. And they won’t stop, because 95% of the incumbents get reelected.

“One of the ironies of the impasse: Attorney General Eric Holder, an
object of deep scorn among Republicans, has signaled he’ll stay on until
his successor is confirmed by the Senate.”

Amazing ain’t it ? :=)

“…51 supporters in the Senate…”

She’ll get 100 votes.

McConnell’s gamesmanship is unamerican, but then Republican conservatives have no problem with that. They hate the American system of government. Here’s the proof.

If Holder wants Lynch confirmed so he can move on, all he has to do is announce that the DOJ, under his personal direction, is opening an investigation into whether 47 Republican Senators (McConnell included) violated the Logan Act. Lynch will be confirmed within 24 hours, even if the Majority Leader has to call the Senate back from recess.

I’ve believed all along that she will not be confirmed. If McConnell allows a vote, that will inflame the teabaggers. So he will not allow a vote on her nomination.

It’s not just about abortion. It’s about pandering to a base whose money and votes they need every last bit of to win elections.

And for icing on that cake, announce plans to investigate Bush era torture.

I’m not convinced Holder’s remaining in office should be seen as ironic. Republican notions of success amount to their ability to trash the administration, and in that sense Holder is their second-favorite boogie man.

He doesn’t care, first and foremost. Secondly, we don’t have a launching pad like repelicans do. We also do not possess the dark blue genes to scrap in the alleys like feral dogs and cats. We’re too polite which bores the media. They need blood and bones. We got pasted so badly in '10 and '14 we’re afraid of our own shadows now. Don’t say anything… they might get mad.

Pelosi, Steve Israel, Debbie W-S, Feinstein, schumer, reid … our firebrands.

McConnell has chosen to identify himself with the racist base of the Republican party. Apparently, this works in Kentucky. What a disgrace for Kentucky and our Senate!

Wait! Hear that? That thunk you might have missed just now was Allison Lundergan-Grimes kicking herself in the can for denying our President his due. You lost, ALG. F_ck/thank you very much. We could have booted this fossil if you’d had one hair on your derriere.

So McConnell is acting like a king/tyrant/despot using his power to prevent the work of the American people to proceed. Gee, they all said that was Obama who did that.

Those assholes in the GOP keep forgetting that BHO is smarter than they are. That’s really why they hate him–because they know he’s smarter, and keep forgetting, and then getting dope-slapped and humiliated.

Will the sweet HSBC deal come back to kill the Loretta Lynch nomination?
Will she have to pay for the sins of Eric Holder?
