Discussion: GOP Delays Vote On Foundering Immigration Bill As Right-Wing Version Fails

Wondermark had the GOP nailed a while back.

ā€œItā€™s amnesty.

Dog whistle one. Remember these young people didnā€™t break the law by choice, their parents brought them when they were young.

It doesnā€™t protect the American worker.

Dog whistle two. And the tax ā€œreformā€ that required nothing of those receiving gargatuan tax breaks (corperate) with no requirements to invest in ways to create jobs - but admittedly require cuts to the safety net programs and worked/earned insurance (medicare/social security) which will hurt the American workers. All this demonstrates that there is no GOP real action/concern about protecting American workers.

Chain migration is still in it,ā€ Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) groused after the Goodlatte bill failed.

Dog whistle three. Many of these grousers family arrived via ā€œchain migrationā€ as did the Presidentā€™s wifeā€™s family (and she got in under the ironic Einstein Visa - but her talent - keeping Groper/assaulter Don away from groping assaulting women - has been proven inept - given the number of the 17 accusers whose accusations step since she was granted that Visa.

Go Cheney yourself as you keep trying to break America!

Your USA on Republican:
Reagan said: ā€˜The most terrifying words in the English language are: Iā€™m from the government and Iā€™m here to help.ā€™

ā€¦ shoulda added: ā€˜Elect Republicans to government and we guarantee weā€™ll wreck it.ā€™

Iā€™m not sure that Paul Ryan could whip votes for a top-5%-only tax cut in a 400-Republican caucus. He is just a pitiful excuse for a Speaker. I didnā€™t think heā€™d be a huge upgrade on Boehner or anything, but I thought heā€™d be better than this.

The other, slightly less conservative version appears destined to a similar fateā€¦

Please, TPM, stop saying ā€œconservativeā€ when you mean reactionary, maybe you can start a trend across media to be more accurate in characterising positions. We havenā€™t seen sincere conservatism from the right party in this country for decades.

It would be cheaper. And Iā€™m kinda surprised the grifter didnā€™t do it already.

It seems like the best way to get an immigration bill passed is to elect a Democratic Congress in November, which will get the incompetent Republicans out of the way. That goes for all kinds of policy initiativesā€¦the Republicans have proved they are unable to run the government, and it should be clear to every American who isnā€™t under Trumpā€™s spell. More incompetence is likely on tap for the next four monthsā€¦McConnell may regret cancelling the August recess at the rate they continue to screw up.

ā€œSmartā€? Now cā€™mon! Iā€™d be willing to give you ā€œsmarterā€ (as in ā€œless stupidā€) but actual ā€œsmartā€, sorry - no way.

As for ā€œcompetentā€ - donā€™t get me startedā€¦

Australia could provide some help in the immigration debate. After all, they started off in an even more grotesque legal position than the US, where 90% of the native population was killed off by imported diseases and genocide. Australia simply took the position that the Aboriginals, who had occupied the continent for 60,000 years, did not exist, a terra nullius. Australia took a step forward in abolishing the jus soli principle of birthright citizenship in 1986, but more recently, it has made many of the epic Trumpian errors in its policy of placing boat people in Nauru. But even more recently, you have had the policy fights and something workable has emerged.

Get rid of the Pederast Rule, oops, sorry, ā€œHastert Rule,ā€ and this problem will disappear by magic. Oh, and by the way, the ENTIRE House of Representatives (ā€œthe Peoplesā€™ Houseā€, womp womp) might get a chance to weigh in on policy, not just the hard-core Tea Party.

OT-ish, but nobody seems enraged enough today, so I thought Iā€™d fix that:

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/06/21/was-childhood-immigrant-to-us-trump-is-acting-wisely-and-compassionately-on-illegal-immigration.html

Main points:

Author is Russian.

Trump is ā€œcompassionateā€ for signing an illegal EO to fix a problem he created in th efirst place by acting like a neofascist white nationalist fucktard.

Melania is the greatest FLOTUS ever and totally didnā€™t wear that jacket in order to give Faux News another victimhood narrative and reassure the white nationalist base that her trip to TX was just as fake as her tits.

Dems are not offering any solutions and are just obstructing the GOPā€™s solutions so that the children have to suffer and they can complain about it.

Pay no attention to the GOP trying to leverage this situation into enacting their white nationalist wish-list agenda to end brown immigration; the legislation the Dems are blocking is just plain old legislation to reunite the children with their parents.

Pssst. Hey, GOP, pass a bill you can live with now, or in January 2019, the Democrats will pass one that you canā€™t live with, and Trump will sign it and crow about #winning the #ArtOfTheDeal.
