Discussion: Dem Rep. Responds To Kelly's Claims About 2015 Event: 'That's A Lie'

Faulty logic. That’s a false dichotomy. You also seem to have not read my comment in which I clearly explained that the same principle applies to any container and specifically said that it does not contradict what you wrote.

This should be played every hour on the hour on all network and cable news programs until the lies of Kelly and his boss are thoroughly exposed.

Yes, this was my thought as well. Kelly is now in the final stages of his transformation into a dignity wraith. Trump will urge him to damage his reputation and taint his past honor and service until there is no return, and then dispose of him once the submission is complete. We’ve seen it play out again and again and again. No one leaves the Trump orbit intact.

Back on Sept. 18 I tried to start a discussion on McMasters but no one was interested. Here’s what I said then.

The adults in the room… Really? (What is the agenda of McMasters, et al.?) 
 News of the Day

Watched as much as I could stomach of McMasters on GeorgeS Sunday am, and this is not a man who is trying to “rein in” dt. He vigorously supported dt and vehemently defended him.

He spouted empty talking points and spurious “facts” like the worst RWNJ. He was animated in his tirade against dt detractors and, even worse, cast aspersions on Obama.

I don’t know what McMaster’s agenda is, but the welfare of our citizens doesn’t seem to be a part of it.

Does any one else think, or feel, that the adults we’re counting on to keep this administration from going off the deep end have plans for their own deep end?

After watching the evil in Kelly yesterday, now I’m very afraid.

DT’s generals aren’t just enabling, they are totally dedicated to him and all the hatred he is and represents.

Soooo glad there is proof he was lying and I hope she gets on every Sunday talk show, though I won’t hold my breath.

[edit: don’t know how the big font happened, don’t know how to undo it. Sorry.]

The Danish version is “Tomme tønder buldrer mest”.

From Shapespearre : (Henry 4., 4,44, fra 1598), 'This saying is true: ‘The empty vessel makes the greatest sound’.

An older variant is Danish in Anders Sørensen Vedels Saxo-translation 79; 1555, fra/from år/year 1575: ‘Tomme og usmurte vogne buldre altid mest’. (“Empty and ungreased wagons makes the loudest noise” , freely translated, ‘Bulder’ is the sound you get from knocking on an empty barrel). Saxo Grammaticus wrote “Gesta Danorum”, an extremely unrealiable history of Denmark and the Danes.

True, my point mostly being ‘Barrel’ as a ‘barrel of beer’ not a “gun barrel”. In Danish they are quite different words.

I don’t think that disproves that it’s also a saying among gun enthusiasts. Why is that such a problem?

Early draft of my New York Review of Books critique of @thunderclapnewman’s latest short story:

“Newman’s terse prose cuts away the distractions of unnecessary digressions and gets straight to the narrative in the most economical fashion. He relies on strong verbs that convey all we need to know about his characters, without leaning on the crutch, as lesser writers do, of florid modifiers. This is story worth reading not once or even twice, but many times – until it becomes a sort of mantra.”

No problem at all…

Wow. That’s not only the opposite of how Kelly described it, it also places Kelly directly in the role of rather hideously attacking and pulling down into the mud the great respect she gives to the FBI, the fallen FBI agents, and the bipartisan teamwork in Congress that passed the naming bill in time for the ribbon-cutting ceremony – specifically to honor the FBI and the FBI’s request.

In his desperate need to denigrate Wilson, Kelly instead denigrates the very notion of respect for the nation’s top law-enforcement agency. He is his own accuser.

Talk you Congress Women for your Service.

TRUMP, answer these questions?
Why did they died?

Why was the country of CHAD put on your list TERRORIST? Chad’s troops had ALWAYS watched out for our troops in that area and then for SOME reason YOU put them on YOUR list of country’s with terrorists and two days later this attacked happened after Chad pulled their troops from that area after YOU put them on YOUR list. See their are this was another LIE by a incompetent Republican President and more of our troops died because of your LIE

See how the COWARD avoided being confronted with these questions. He’s been hiding out finding reasons to avoid US. tHE NEXT QUESTION IS WHO WILL HE BLAME NEXT, who will take the FALL for him…AGAIN. Any TAKERS?

Trump LIED and people have died.

TICK, TICK…STUPID, the clock has run down on using the Congress woman, using the widow’s grief. Using John Kelly.

Here you go.

Nope.

I pointed out that since the expression was used by a writer who had no experience of guns that the expression cannot be gun-related, which is true.
Nowhere in the etymology of the phrase are guns mentioned.

Of course it can. By your reasoning if Mary’s mother likes chocolate, it’s not possible that Mary also likes chocolate because Mary’s mother liked chocolate first.

What you can say (although I’ve no idea why this is so important to you) is that the concept of an empty container resonating more loudly predates its use in the gun community. And I already pointed out that this is completely compatible because the concept is a general one. Why is this such a BFD for you anyhow?
