Discussion: Carson On Pyramid Theory: 'Secular Progressives' Are Welcome To Ridicule

The pyramids having been built over 1000 years Joseph would have to lived a long time.

Well, Christians would know that Joseph gathered grain for seven-years, but the Pyramids took at least 30-years to build, so even the Bible would suggest that Carsonā€™s theory doesnā€™t add up. Unless the Pyramids were somehow built in less than seven-years. Or maybe Joseph gathered grain for seven-years and then held onto it for another 23-years before putting it into storage? Or maybe Joseph prophesied his seven-years of grain prophecy 30-years prior and got to work on the storage facility long before he had the prophecy that he needed to collect seven-years of grain?

IDK. The point here is that Ben Carson has a direct connection to God and anyone that disagrees with him about anything ever is godless. Why is this so difficult for you heathens to understand?

ā€˜secular progressivesā€™ arenā€™t ridiculing your pyramid ā€˜theoryā€™ā€¦ Iā€™m ridiculing a person supposed to know the difference between a theory and a personal belief based on myth and superstitionā€¦

theories are proposal that have been validated with empirically observed data that is reproducible by any other observerā€¦

to paraphraseā€¦ youā€™re allowed your personal beliefs but you arenā€™t allowed your own personal ā€˜factsā€™ā€¦

Actually, the explanation that makes the most sense is that the pyramids were built by alien civilizations who also deposited the increasingly annoying Ben Carson on one of their more recent visits.

Those crafty Egyptians probably filled them in with rocks after the grain was gone, This could have been done to confuse later historians.

Why does he have to involve religion in this boneheaded belief? There is absolutely nothing in any scripture anywhere to support his claim.

You donā€™t have to be a "secular progressiveā€™ to ridicule him for this, any old born again Christian can join in as well. Of course, mainline Christians who believe in science are also free to point at him and laugh. So are Jews, Muslims and Hindus.

How do you explain the pyramids not being hollow?

They canā€™t be hollow to be hermetically sealed, duh!

Iā€™m likely late to this ā€˜danceā€™ā€¦

Evidently one of his fans went to the pyramid page and changed it to reflect Carsonā€™s philosophy

The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped masonry structures located in Egypt that were built to hold grains. As of November 2008, there are sources citing both 118 and 138 as the number of identified Egyptian pyramids.

Of course, that person could have been trolling, but Iā€™m not really sure any more. Naturally that Wiki page is locked now.

Side-note: This reason was left in the talk page.

The very first sentence of this article should be removed because it is inaccurate and badly sourced. Someone has added an introductory line to this article that is inaccurate. The line claims the Egyptian pyramids were grain storage facilities and uses Dr. Carson, who is not an expert on Egyptology or grain storage, as the authoritative source. The citation is actually a clip from an MSNBC show where Dr. Carson explains his personal point of view about the pyramids. Dr. Carson is in no way a neutral or authoritative source. That claim is also not in agreement with the world community of anthropologist, historians, and Egyptologist. The rest of the article correctly explains that the pyramids were tombs, so the intro line is misleading in terms of article coherence.

Once again, I donā€™t know if the person who added Carsonā€™s name was trolling, but seeing how this election cycle is goingā€¦

Hereā€™s a Guardian article on this matter and naturally its a lot more informative than Carson.

Well, you know, my personal belief on the Mary/Virgin Birth issue is this: The ā€˜angelsā€™ who came down to speak with Mary were truly an alien raceā€“perhaps future humans from another timeline?ā€“and that Mary was, indeed, technically a virgin because the aliens artificially impregnated the girl. The vast majority of the humans in those times were totally uneducated and had no other way to describe such things as spaceships (sky chariots) and ā€˜angelsā€™ (beings who descended from the sky chariots). What say you, Dr. Carson?

BTW, I actually did come up with this on my own back in my very early teens when I decided for myself that I would no longer go to Sunday School at our church because they didnā€™t want black people there. Being a gay boy (but not open) and realizing how they werenā€™t welcoming of others all because of their skin color really opened my eyes.

Edit: Do I really believe this? No. I am agnostic at best.

The cool thing about magical thinking is that it not only allows you to ignore science, it also forces you to ignore Occamā€™s Razor as well.
